Blazing Star
Pulstar
Last Resort

I MIGHT get Zed Blade later, though other than the music it doesn't seem very good. HUH?!You got a problem with euro techno!??

1)Viewpoint

-Great graphics & sound at a fair pace, hard nails = great replay value

2)Pulstar

-R-TYPE .Greater gfx, sound decent tunes, slow pace, but could suite taste.

3)Last Resort

-16 bit shooter with kol!11 ~Akira esque backgrounds, average sounds, faster than Pulstar, but cool in general. I dig it, bloody hard again.

4)Blazing Star

-Similar gfx to Pulstar(same team), but faster pace more standard shooter afair, personaly i think its cheese and not worth the admission fee.....if it were £150 on AES, then maybe, otherwise......move on, nothing to see here.

Viewpoint: Difficult, beautiful, sonically satisfying.

Last Resort: Pretty Graphics, but it tries to be R-Thunderforce, or something and fails.

Pulstar: any R Type is better. Nice Looking game.

Blazing Star: Nice Looking game. Sounds good too. Im not fond of the gameplay.

ASO2 is actually pretty cool.

Nobody mentioned Ghost Pilots? For one of the earlier Neo shooters it isn't half bad. It's no Strikers, just good, simple shooter fun.

Funny thing is I've got a real soft spot for good ol Andro Dunos too!

My order of the original list is -

1) Blazing star (absolutely gorgeous visually, I spose it gets a bit like going through the motions at times and is a real coin eater later on but I still love it to death!

2) Pulstar - another beautiful looking game, very polished, slower paced than Blazing Star and it is a lot like R-Type which could be seen as a rip off but it does it so well and is just Neo cool. Very much a memory based shooter though which can be a bit tedious, and is sooooooo damn tough later on!

3 & 4) can’t make up my mind between Last Resort and View Point. I still love em both, but I would say that VP has a bit more originality but is crazy hard at times which is no good on the anger meter especially when one's over tired! :D

Nobody mentioned Ghost Pilots?
Or the Sonic Wings/Aero Fighters for that matter...

They all look like fun to me, I guess they're really not worth the attention?

Hell yeah Aerofighters/Sonic Wings are worth the attention. Just because they don't get mentioned much doesn't mean they aren't great shmups. I've always liked the Aerofighters series, and the two Neo games are both kick ass. Fast paced with huge bosses, and tons of different characters to choose from. Sonic Wings 2 and 3 are not a waste of money.

ASO II is by far the best shooter on the system

Are you after titles on cd/ngh ?

Also are you a hardcore 1 credit shmup monster??

If so you will love Viewpoint.

However if you like a quality shmup that is hard but not unfairly so then Last Resort is your first resort.

Honestly Pulstar is so so and i was disapointed by blazing star.

Get viewpoint & pulstar on cd (graphically the same, but with load times on pulstar)

Buy Last Resort on Cart as it's the cheaper of those three.

Alpha Mission 2 is not a bad game but the speed of your craft is a little slow.

Ghost Pilots is pretty unimpressive IMO.

My faves;
1) Last Resort
2) Viewpoint
3) Pulstar
4) Blazing
5) Aplha II
6) Dunnos
7) Ghost Pilots
