How can you guys pay for neo carts and systems. Their very costly, high in price. I don't have the money to get neo system or carts. Is everybody on this site rich or just nuts?

Neither or both. Others like me, are simply patient, so I get great deals, like $100+ games for >$30.

I EAT RAMEN......
WHEN IM SAVING, ILL COOK MY WIFES USUAL MEALS OR ORDER THEM OR SHELL COOK EM FINE.........BUT ILL JUST STICK TO RAMEN AS A FILLER PERHAPS SOME BLOODY MEAT FOR IRON.......
EVEN THEN THOW AS SOON AS IVE SAVED ANYTHING HALF THE TIME WE GO SPENDING SPREE ANYWAY =\

IT VERY HARD ESP CONSIDERING THE SMALL AMOUNT OF CASH LEFT AFTER RENT OR WHEN A BILL HITS ALONG WITH THE USUAL LIVING COSTS.......

ID IMAGINE ITD BE ALOT EASIER FOR A U.S NEO GAMER/COLLECTOR........
NOT EASY, BUT EASIER........

I know what you mean, and I am nuts. Depending on age, it would be easier or harder to buy Neo stuff. Like me for example, I got a part time job during the summer and bought my PS2, sold it, and now I'm getting a MVS arcade cabinet. I dont have to spend money on much anything else since I live at home and still in high school.

I make sure my car runs, not running perfect but running. I live at home while I go to college. And my girl helps me out big time by not asking to go out when she knows I'm trying to save for a Cart. Gotta cut corners where you can.

So I buy Neo Carts... to tell you the truth though, this is my hobby (or one of them) I collect these things... yeah some are real expensive but I have picked up a bunch of carts less the $30. The newer ones may be pricey (most I have paid was $350... $220 after that) but I get a lot of enjoyment out of them, and I look at them as collectables that may go up in value over time (like the original defender board, or a pac man arcade machine)... you see it is like any other hobby, you spend a lot of money, and your friends may think you're nuts... but hey it's only money... and it's going to be spent one way or another, might as well spend it on something you enjoy... Neo Geo or otherwise....

Well, my stepfather is a doctor, so he can afford to buy me a few of my Neo games at Christmas, or birthdays, but the way I pay for most of my stuff is through the government. My biological father died when I was only 2 years old. Therefore I get checks from the United States every month in the form of $756. I have been getting these checks for 18 years now. So I have a good little stash in the bank that my mom lets me use to buy myself CD's, games, stuff for my car, etc...

Well, many of the gamers here are middle age professionals, having a full time job, plus not having family responsibilities. I take my time to build collections and I normally don't rush buying a game unless it's one of the rarest and not in my collection. There were only 2 ocassions back in late 1998 when I streched my budget to buy Neo-Geo games, that was when Supersellers had Twinklestar Sprites and Chibimaruko Quiz home cats on special sales, I even begged Shinichirou to hold the games for me for a month with deposit.

Now, my home cart collection is complete but the urge of collection has gotten me into other consoles (LaserActive and TurboGrafx), fortunately games for these systems aren't expensive compared to Neo-Geo. My advise to all gamers: Never save money on food in order to get Neo-Geo games, it's only games after all, and you health and well being are worth a billion. If you must play Neo-Geo games but can't afford them and can't stand Neo-Geo CD's loading time, try MVS, with initial home setup of about $500 so, you can play almost all of the games for less than $100, well, it's just a suggestion.

Hopefully if I make more money then I can buy whatever I want. As a marketing MBA the starting salary isn't good. My goal is to buy all Neo Cart games and have a big 4 slot MVS machine in my house.

Video collecting is my hobby, however, I did not started collecting NEO GEO until I finished college. It was just too expensive. One day I was thinking about what kind of games I liked playing, and the answer was late 80s to early 90s arcade. I wanted the arcade feel and NEO GEO was the answer. I work in the medical field now and make enough to spend on NEO GEO home items.

Hmmm.. I got into gaming in a big way my last two years of college ('98-2K). I've always been a HUGE gamer that likes to both collect and play games as often as possible. I just graduated from college recently, and have yet to get on my feet career-wise, so I'm still living with my folks. That obviously saves quite a bit on living expenses. I worked quite a bit thoughout college, sometimes two jobs in the summer. I've also managed to save some money over the past 6 months. I seldom spend more than $200 on a game. It has only really been the last year or so where I've spent past the $100 mark (Last Blade, Metal Slug X, Metal Slug 3, KoF '99, KoF 2K). Since there are not many games coming out in the next 6 months, I have to take a hiatus from gaming for awhile. With the exception of PSO, I plan on saving my money to take care of other responsibilites during the next half year..

Vince has the right idea. It's good to collect and play games, but it's also good to be sensible and have a clear head about it all.

I have only 3 letters for you:

MVS

They are the bargin bin of the Neo world.
smile.gif
the board with a monitor would run you about as much as the home console alone(assuming you get a one slot. I mean, who REALLY needs a memory card
smile.gif
) and the carts that sell for, oh, insane and ungodly amounts of money (US AES Metal Slug) are around 75$ for MVS.

and just remeber. God gave you 2 kidneys for a reason, right? Wait, it's 2 kidneys, right? I feel faint....
