I got some Neo play in tonight, I've been neglecting it as of late and I decided tonight to get some time in.

First off, I'll say this... FFS sucks.. I got it a few months ago and never got to sit down to play it all that much. I got a good hour in tonight and I have decided it's just terrible. Dated, boring, bad character design... oh and EVERY FUCKING GAME I PLAY TERRY BOGARD IN, HE HANDS ME MY ASS. whew! got that out, but seriously.. I don't even see that dated charm that some games have for me.

On the OTHER hand. RB2 was one game I got with my collection, and I'll say this.. this game is GOOD... yum yum good! I never really bought into the "Neo CAN produce some really good modernized graphics" thing and I remembered liking this when I got my collection and put that in after I stopped the train wreck that is FFS.

First, the GRAPHICS are GOOD... it takes a lot to impress me and I would GLADLY hold this up against most fighters these days. Really great color.. I LOVE the character portrats and the gamplay is FAST. I can't understand how garou came after this, as this game is COOL. I have to master it, but it's a definite shining star in my collection. I like the anime style of the portraits, the really fun combos and as always.. Billy is my guy.

All I need to do is master this damn thing.. lol

Anyone else like it?

The only thing I like more in RBS is the between match animations.. I'm going back now to play RBS and compare.... Neo, you have FINALLY impressed me. I was regretting most of my collection as of late, as most of my games are fighters that I'm not TOO hot on, and this has brought me back to the fold.

(Keep in mind that I don't really like KOF 98, 2000 is alright in my book)

Yep, the Real Bout games are my favourite fighters. I don't understand why they aren't popular. The graphics, music, sound and animations are awesome, the characters are great, every character has their own unique string combos, pursuits are there, the linesway system just adds to the gameplay.

I've always been a Fatal Fury fan but I couldn't really get into FFS either, the game was good when it came out, but well it's main bad point is you can avoid encounters with your opponent by continually lineswaying and running away so to speak. Don't get me wrong when it was out, I played it to death, once the Real Bout games where released I only touched it again once. Since it's an old game, the moves are also hard to perform.

If you haven't done so already pick Rick Strowd in Real Bout 2, he is one of the best boxers to ever grace a fighting game, his taunt is awesome and is easily one of the best characters in the game. You should note that out of the 3 Real Bout games Real Bout 2 is the most balanced.

I personally preferred Real Bout Special, because I liked the announcer, the pre-fight animations and the linesway system in RBS. It was also combo-happy and allowed for some awesome linesway combos. Geese in RB2 is one of the few characters with large linesway combos. I also liked the idea of the barriers on either side. My Duck King owns all in RBS, I get worked in RB2 though 'cause he plays completely different.

Garou: MotW was graphically better than the Real Bout games but not by much, the gameplay in the Real Bout games is far more superior and one of the reasons why I was so dissapointed in MotW. I guess the gameplay in Garou was a lot easier. Many people still find it hard to play the RB games, if you don't learn how to use the linesway system Billy Kane and certain other characters will make you their bitch.

RB2 is ace, its the only game with Rick in it (not including card fighters). It just seems unfinished to me, every character should have his/her own stage i really didn't like how they changed some stages to fit different characters. Also the ending is pretty poor. Its loads of fun to play anyway and thatsn the most important thing.

RB2 is pretty good, although I wish the announcer had more to say like he did in RBS.

The control is definitely better than that of FFS. My only issue with it is that it would have been better to use the "WP-WK-SP-SK" (KOF-style) button configuration as FF2 did; I have no problem with the 2 button linesway.

FFS is one of my top ten favorite fighters of all time. I can understand why people wouldnt like this game, but it IS the reason I am into the neo from way back when. Plus I still find the game incredibly fun. For RB2, I like RBS much more. I think RBS has more to offer in terms of character assortment and what you are able to do with them. Also the Ex versions of a few of the characters are very very cool indeed. The game had a load of personality with its zanny announcer and all the extra win poses and such in Vs matches. I really liked RB2, but when I compair it to RBS it falls short. If Rick was in RBS I would have to say RBS would easly be my favorite RB game. Now FF3, that is another story, that game just rocks.

I love RB2 - it's arguably my favorite game of all time (right up there along with Fatal Fury 2)! :D

The combo engine in the Real Bout series is easily my favorite among all fighters that I've played so far. It's easy enough that someone unfamiliar can hop right in and play without becoming frustrated, yet has enough depth and options (without becoming overwhelming) to make mastering it all the more rewarding.

Also, I thought the whole presentation of RB2 was excellent. True, it didn't really have much of a storyline (other than being another tournament with 2 new fighters joinging the fray), but it was a "pure arcade fighter" through and through, which is really what I'm after (and one of the main reasons I bought a Neo - the arcade experience at home).

And I agree with you - I think the graphics are terrific; and the sound and music, while not the best the Fatal Fury series has to offer, keep you in the action, while the control is spot-on, allowing each character's moves to come off without a hitch.

To be perfectly honest, I'm still not a HUGE fan of the original Real Bout, but RBS was my favorite game for the longest time... right up until I got RB2! ;) Even with all the other Neo fighters I have to choose from, I still find myself reaching for this one more than any other.

Oh, and let me just say this - while I do like Fatal Fury Special, I still don't enjoy it as much as FF2. To me, it's just not very fun in a one-player contest, which is what I find myself playing the majority of the time.

But don't even get me started on Garou... <img src="graemlins/ohno.gif" border="0" alt="[Oh No]" />
