I've been saving up for a Neo Geo for about ten years now (well, nearly!), but want to know where to buy one from.

I want to get a brand new Japanese Neo. I can get one from Telegames UK for £500 or from neogeousa.com for a bit more +shipping costs.

Is there anywhere else I can try? Preferably somewhere in the UK.

and also, is the Japanese console PAL or NTSC or were there two versions (one pal and one ntsc)?

Hope someone can help.

Thanks

Why whats up with telegames?

I know they're overpriced, butthere isn't really much choice in the UK is there. And I really want a new one cos second hand ones will be scratched and knackered!

How do I cantact Winston?

Is he in the UK?

Thanks

Can he get new machines in singapore or what?

I'd go with one of the brand new sytems <a href="http://www.neogeousa.com" target="_blank">www.neogeousa.com</a> has. Get it with all the mods and you will not be disapointed. I'm pretty certain that you can get them too turn your Japanese system (NTSC) into a PAL system. Talk with Ray over there at neogeousa, he's a reall cool guy, and will answer all your questions.

I also hear that as far as s-video and RGB mods go for the Neo, you can't get any better video quality than the new one that Ray is offering.

Hope this helps,

Criterionradiohead ;)

does it have to be MISB *NEW*

or could it be MINT ?

ask yourself that, and save some £££

Telegames are pure turd.

Raven Games are your best bet for a AES unit. Tony is a most firndly bloke and the service is second to none.

Anyone here used to buy from Loaded?

Thanks for your help everyone.

I emailed neogeousa.com a few days ago and he told me that a new fully boxed super system would be $950 which is about £700! Then there would be shipping and would probably have to pay duty before I get it from the postman.

I want a new system cos I don't want any scracthes or damage to the system and shell. I want it look really good and clean.

By the way, are all japanese machines NTSC, or are there japanese pal models as well. I only want an NTSC because of the faster refresh rate and full screen picture.

And could someone tell me if all neo's (jap, usa and UK) output rgb or just standard composite video?

Where did all you lot get your machines from? Have you got them recently or had them since they were originally released?

Thanks alot

Yeah Telegames are very pricey... As for Ravengames - I wouldn't touch them with a barge pole. Their AES stuff is pure cack, he rarely has any quality mint stuff and charges outrageous prices.

Yeah, tony is a nice guy, but I wouldn't shop there for love nor money and anybody else who does (for AES) needs their head looking at.

@ Jimmy - sent you an e-mail. Don't bother with neogeousa, Ray is very helpful but he's very expensive too. If you want a BRAND NEW AES I can get one and it'll be cheaper than Telegames.

Please for the love of God buy ANYWHERE except Telegames or Ravengames. <img src="graemlins/help.gif" border="0" alt="[Help]" />

Right. Japanese systems are NTSC. You do not want a PAL AES as they are shite and you'll end up paying for a NTSC conversion. The machine runs a superb RGB Scart picture thru an RGB scart lead (suprise suprise). Altho these are not usually with the machine you can buy them for about £15 (3rd party) or about £40 for an offical SNK one (if you can find one).

So you'll need an NTSC compatible TV with a scart socket (the two ususally come together). Then of corse you need your AES. Be patient. Don't buy from the above. Raven want £250 for an unboxed scart AES and it's as old as the hills. Tony is a rip off merchant. Only stupid people pay his prices (£500 for MOTW??? What drugs is he on??)

As for loaded, they are a sore point of discussion around here as many of the senior UK members got ripped off by the guy who ran it. <img src="graemlins/ohno.gif" border="0" alt="[Oh No]" /> <img src="graemlins/ohno.gif" border="0" alt="[Oh No]" /> <img src="graemlins/ohno.gif" border="0" alt="[Oh No]" />

Anyway, Jimmy hope this helps. Any other questions feel free to ask. :)

Thanks alot Tarma, you've been extremely helpful and cleared up a few things for me.

I always that Japanese consoles came in 2 versions one pal and one ntsc, cos aren't there DVD's region 2 which is PAL?

How can you get hold of a new Japanese AES system for me? Do you have some cantacts abroad and what sort of price are we talking about?

I was only going to buy from telegames as they are the only place in the UK to get a brand new machine from. And I wouldn't have bought from Raven Games as they seem pretty dodgy to me!

Thanks

I've never seen Ravens AES stock, bit of a stupid recommendation really. However, I did get a £35 Zelda no Densetsu Majora's Mask off Tony as a pose to the £70 Telegames one :-).

I never delt with Loaded Lee personally. A lot of my mates didn't like him much, but I was very good friends with a mate of Lee's, sworn it was all blown out of proportion. Oh well.......

Anyway, most UK shops in my opinion are greed driven arse. I've always bought from abroad or non money grabbing mates.

AFAIK, all Japanese consoles are NTSC as standard. Their DVDs are region 2, but I'm sure its NTSC..

"There's no demand.." says Tony, to the man holding cash demanding MVS carts
Then again, if the prices would be like the AES stuff, I'm probably better off this way.

Got to agree about the PAL systems. Pure shite <img src="graemlins/ohno.gif" border="0" alt="[Oh No]" />

Hi Jimmysmithson

If you are serious about getting into the Neo you will really need to buy from abroad as the UK is well overpriced generally and supply/availability of products is again really limited.

Try

<a href="http://www.gamechoiceclub.com/neogeo.html" target="_blank">http://www.gamechoiceclub.com/neogeo.html</a>

or

<a href="http://www3.goldenshop.com.hk/AI-trad/collect/index.html" target="_blank">http://www3.goldenshop.com.hk/AI-trad/collect/index.html</a>

Both have good prices and seem reliable.

Good luck., you won't look back once you've got the system - it really is sweet - but but buying from the UK only will leave you with a small collection and a large overdraft!

Thanks for the info.

I know that Britain is overpriced for Neo-Geo stuff (and everthing else), but it is also quite expensive importing.

I've been into games consoles since the late 80's, with my excellent Sega Master System. I always wanted a Neo-Geo when it first came out, but was really really expensiev - and still is!

So I'm not really new to this, just new to owning one (hopefully soon). So its taken about 10 years to finally get round to getting one! I just hope I won't be dissapointed with the games after being spoilt with the brilliant selection of Dreamcast games available.

Thanks

My turn

I was very good friends with Lee from Loaded consoles. i use to deal with him all the time with not a single problem, i even got ny neo geo cd of him when it first came out

he even use to let me trade games with him
infact the only reason i stopped using him was the distributers for the UK neo geo cd were based to near where i lived.
planet distribution they were known as and i got rest of games from them at cost :)
Hi btw.

On the nose as usual! :)

Yep, Japan is region 2 but their television standard is NTSC. Don't be fooled by the region 2 / NTSC thing, they're two entirely different things. A lot of people think the Game-Q will play pal discs, but it won't. Even when modified it will only play discs with an NTSC signal output.

Dude, even his MVS stuff is fucking expensive... <img src="graemlins/ohno.gif" border="0" alt="[Oh No]" />

Tarma - I actually laughed out loud when he "offered" me League Bowling for about 60 quid <img src="graemlins/eek2.gif" border="0" alt="[Eek 2]" /> (then it sank in that he was being serious)
