I think they were thinking something like "hey, it's a SAURUS game..."

I myself found the game pretty good, but it fails in the sound / music department.

I think shock-troopers is one of the best games to be released on the Neo! I don't get what you mean mate- regarding the sound,as It totaly rocks!

I agree with Pyrokilla... 2nd Squad is really a great game... I like it very very much... shocktroopers 1 is also much fun, especially that you can change your character makes it very cool

Thats your opinion, mine is:-

Good visuals + good music + tight design + Bad Slowdown = Good game.

For the most part I can forgive the slowdown, though it does take the piss in 2player mode.
If ever a game could do with a 'Metal Slug X' type makeover, STSS is it.

My guess is that Saurus shared the minority opinion of Neo fans (IE mine), and didnt think Shock Troopers 1 was good enough for a home relese.
Its just my opinion, but I thought that ST1 looked a bit dated for a 1997 game -even by Neo standards.

My opinion is that When Shock Troopers was released Fighting games were the biggest sellers and SNK possibly thought it was a risky release .

Although I think the AES is in dire need of more platformers , perhaps that wasnt the same state of mind back then .
