Did you know when SNK first released the Neo Geo in the states they also planned to release a Communication cartridge that would allow the system to log on through a phone line? As an example they said that users would be able to bank online. Unfortunately back in 1990s the Internet wasn't mainstream. But it's nice to know that SNK was really thinking ahead with technology.

That would have suuck more than Nintendo's idea for the NES.

Imagine browsing the web on a 320x240 screen, using a Joysick and buttons. Perhaps we could have even used the Mahjong controller?

Thank God we have computers.

It wasn't for web browsing. It was for netbanking. It was all the rage in Japan in the 80's all the way to the early 90's.

Back then, 640X480 was high end as monitors go, so the TV could display a web image easily anyway.

I think SNK was referring to the MEMORY CARD and how you could personalize it when they talk about the possibility of communications/online banking on the Neo Geo. The back of my Gold System box shows a picture of a standard Neo memory card and the description of what it can do mentions the online functionality. I don't think a cartridge itself was ever planned to accomplish this, but rather it would be done solely through the memory cards.
