Could go either way depending on people's styles and feels. I like the neo stick IMO.

the X-Arcade(not Arcade X) is good for capcom games, because it uses an imitation Happs super, which is great for circular motions. If I were to buy an X-Aracade for the sole purpose of playing SNK games, I'd replace the stock joystick with a Happs Competition joystick, which uses a square box in order to feel the corners better for specials like Kim Kaphwan's and countless other SNK fighters.

BTW, unless your talking about playing SNK games on other systems, I do not believe there is an adapter for the Neo Geo.

edit: the X-Arcade is definately better, especially if you swap out the joystick. It's like playing in American arcade, as opposed to the small joystick and convex buttons prevalent in Japanese arcades, which happens to be what the Neo Geo stick is imitating.

I _love_ my X-Arcade and highly recommend it. It can work with PC and just about any console, it's really good.

And like the other guy said, because it's easily opened and uses arcade standard sized parts, you can swap sticks and buttons etc. to your liking or hack the thing to death if you want. :)

No, but there is one for PS2. And there is an adapter that just came out that allows PS2 controllers to be used on Neo Geo. (lik-sang carries it)

It would be interesting to see if the X-Arcade/PS2 -> adapter -> Neo Geo would work. I don't see why not.

actually Roker i believe Lik Sang is now selling a psx to neo adapter which means you can get the X-Arcade for psx and use it on neo.

It hasn't been proven. I've heard a few people complain about it not working with the Gamecube via PS2/GC adapter. Until then I'm gonna have to assume it doesn't work with it. The owner of X-Arcade doesn't recommend using it with another adapter.

Actually I'd like to proven wrong. I'd love to use my X-Arcade on a Neo Geo. So far I only use it for my Dreamcast.

You could have compared the X-Arcade with
the Massystems Neo•Geo Super Pro Stick:

I don't think it would work well with a PSX->Neo adapter. You'd probably end up with lag if it worked at all. Someone will try it eventually I'm sure, then we'll know.

But I bet a Neo adapter could be hacked together somehow. You could easily hack a Neo cable to the switches inside the X-Arcade, but that would be a mess and you'd ruin it for other consoles.

This might be a better question for the tech guys.

If you are looking for true Neo Geo arcade quality, I don't think you can do much better than a MAS systems pro stick. MAS will custom build your stick. I do not think X-arcade will do it.

I have not used an X-arcade but the button layout seems convoluted and the stick looks like some crappy happ controls knock off. I don't think there's a stick out there that can top the happ controls competion stick.

Comparing an X-arcade to a Neo Geo controller isn't really fair. One is a specialized accessory and one is a standard home controller.

I had a mas pro stick and found it to be nearly arcade perfect. It would be great if both players used them but its a slight disadvantage if one person uses the regular neo controller because the buttons are easier to push and the motion of the joystick is more compact than the mas.
