Is there really a Bust-A-Move Again EX?

Does anybody know if Bust-A-Move Again EX really exists? I have seen flyers and a marquee for sale, but never an actual cartridge. I see that in the price guide it ONLY lists Bust-A-Move Again EX, and not simply Bust-A-Move Again. So am I on a witch hunt here looking for this "EX" edition?

neo-geo 2:
There is a pic of the MVS kit over at S-C.com
The kit pictured on S-C.com is just the regular "again". I know I have seen kit flyers that have said "EX" before.

It's legit. Supposedly it's a slightly updated version with more puzzles.

This is supported by the KLOV entry.

I agree that there's hardly any info on the differences between the two. When I wrote my original BAM review I tried looking it up to little avail. I need to update my review of BAM to have a better reference.

I almost dare say someone should get a hold of each version and see if there is in fact a difference, or was it rather just a cool subtitle they added later.

Regardless, there are 2 versions (at least in name) that are floating around and official.

I'll throw up a standing offer of $250 for a complete "EX" Kit that has EX on the cart sticker and on Title screen.

Good Point!

Ive never really thought about it, but my blue mvs cart just says "bust a move again". Just the other day I remembered thinking...hang on a minute I thought this was supposed to be "EX"? I know its original, boots up in the jap setting as puzzle bobble2!

There is no BAMA EX MVS cart.

There is a BAMA EX flyer, and full marquee, but there is only 1 version of the game.

This comes up about once a year.

EDIT: My personal opinion is that BAMA got new marketing materials to boost sales. Also, don't take KLOV at face value ~ it has as many errors as it has games.

I agree about KLOV, I wasn't 100% believing it.

I think you may be on to something with the marketing... but is there a way to find out when they made the change?

I had a full marquee, and it had a date on it, but I forget what it was. I sold it to BMU so we could ask him when he gets out of the Alaskan Army Snomobile Corps.

This probably wouldn't help, but you could try contacting Taito.

The other reason I think it was just a ploy to sell more carts, is that the "EX" flyer and marquee don't say anything about additional levels, better play, etc.

I really think it was just a way to try and move some stock.

Sorry to keep adding to this, but here is my final theory:

On Taitos F3 system, there was Puzzle Bobble 2, and then Puzzle Bobble 2x, which added special screens for when it was Christmas or NYE based on the calendar date of the arcade machine.

My thinking is that SNK tried to capitalize on the PB 2x by adding EX to flyers and the full marquee.

Or not...

It makes sense that it was so recent, because I remember seeing the BAMA EX carts in places like new theaters and such -all around that time.

As for who made the call to make the change, I'll bet it had to be (at the very least) agreed to by both companies.

there's not too much to write home about.the arcade here has it, and it's pretty much the PSX game on a neo-geo mvs cart.

I am 99% SURE i saw the kit personally.
the "BUST A MOVE AGAIN EX "kit.
When i saw it, seller didn't want to sell it, and there were no controversia about this title at this time.
After, when i was looking for on on the internet, i called the game "BUST A MOVE AGAIN EX"whe i searched it, but guys told me i was wrong.
It was only "bust a move again".

Unfortunately, the kit is gone, and god only knows where he is now.

If someone fnd this kit, please take a picture.
I am myself doubtful about my own memory, but i am still thinking it was the BAM AGAIN EX.
I couldn't create that name of game!

I have to agree with you Mathieu, I could have sworn that I have seen a cart that said "EX" on it on ebay a few years back.

As far as I know, in any Japanese MVS soft list, only Puzzle Bobble and Puzzle Bobble 2 exist. No 'ex', 'dash', 'gold' or 'whatever' alternate version for the latter release.

Puzzle Bobble 3 and 4 being standard Jamma Boards, i wonder if PB2 itself also exists in that 'stand alone' form, as someone says...
