SVC chaos is finally arrive in my local arcades and I went to check out the games with my friend.

Suprising with all the hype of this game.
My arcade centre only bought one copy, I asked the boss and his reply; "don't think this game will bring any outstanding profits"
And I think he is right.

The first impression that this game gives me is like "Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon ", a hack version of KOF2001 with streetfighter characters.
Since everybody been speaking of the good things about this game, I will just speak of the bad things.

1)The backgrounds; its on par or worst than KOF2001, if you hate KOF2001, this is worst. :o
Theres is not a single person/soul at the background. Most of the background is just like a static wall paper.
Maybe a few stages is ok like the second floor in the old castle, at least got some birds flying around. eek_2
The rest are just empty background, seem like missing somethings.
I perfer capcom version which looks like a tournament.

2)Fonts/layout- Wheres their avatar? can't they put their avatar at the screen, its too simple presentation for a game people been waiting for.
Its look like KOF2002 cut and paste layout, even the fonts look the sames. At least KOF2002 still got the avatar.

3)Recycle sprites- Most of the snk characters use recycle sprites, hate Iori fat? face sprite in KOF2002? Kyo from KOF98, geese from KOF96 and so on.

4)Not balance game, everybody using Iori, Kyo, Ken, Ryu ,Gouki,, anyone with a fireball and upper will win.
The character rosters sucks! I can't really see the difference between RYU, RYO, GOUKI, TAKUMA,KEN,SAGAT, not to mention orochi KEN, orochi RYU(if any) shin Gouki, shin takuma? DAN?....

You are kidding yourself if you think using other character such as guile ,chun-li tabasa or hugo will win.
This game should be call a KOF VS Streetfighter.
All those special character can't use as default or not available? Geese? Goenitz?,Demitri? now we are seeing Zero? Alien(metal slug)?

5)Game mode-Just incase somebody don't know, just select 1 character and fight all the way to the final boss. Pretty lame right?
Nothing new to offer, No tag, no 3 on 3 or any
story.

Above are just my personal feelings regarding this game.
I am just excited like the rest of you guys but was disappointed with playmore.
They screw it.
Thought they could do a very good job with this anticipated game.

All my friends and those people at the arcades putting their money into the game says its suck and fucking boring. eek_2
Maybe for those people who never play KOF or streetfighter game before but not for me.
Nothing really new and interesting, you get bore soon. crying

Overall this game is just another average game and don't expect too much from this game or you be disappointed.
Like they always say; Average game is better than no games. glee
On well, maybe they can do better on SS0 or KOF2003.

From my experience, you can judge a game only after one month of play !

Anyways thank for this first impression :)

Pretty much what I expected. Playmore has no development team. Just a bunch of hacker programmers.

All the negatives in this thread make me want it more... It sounds like a bare bones, back to the roots of fighting games... And, I am bored to death with the cliche hooks in todays games... teams/tag/nude... whatever... It sounds like a basic sit down and kick ass game, and the extras look sweet as hell. Will everyone like it, no way! Especially since CvsS2 is old news and most casual gamers are going to do a WTF when they see it... Screw em... I'll take it, MVS cart or PCB, can't wait to play it for myself!

No-one can review it yet, not for some months.

So are you trying to say that when a game first comes out you are a expert on your first game of play, haha yeah right.

So the standard in your arcade is at its peak on the first day of rlease, don't make me laugh.

Look at vids of games when they first come out, then look at the standard 2 years later, i'll think you will see a vast difference unless people in your arcade suck fromday 1 & never improve.
Don't make us laugh.

Yes, the problems is not many arcade want to buy this game due to the high price tags.(Playmore should lower the price so that they can bring in more to revive the dying arcades.)

People won't let you sit down there and let you practice.
All the experts who want to try the game will chose Iori, kyo, ken, ryu,to challenge each other.
Same for me too.
At least all the characters got many deadly special moves(4?) wink

Its fucking boring to see those repeated characters fighting each others too.
Not to mention only a few backgrounds randomly selected for those VS matches.

They should put other characters maybe from Biohazard? devil may cry? lastblade? MOTW? burning fight? Kizuna or any others to make it look more interesting.
And not just Streetfighter character and KOF character.
CAll it "KOF VS Streetfighter" instead. eek_2

I can only think of a excuse for the programmers>
We don't have enough time to put out a good game, too rush and our boss wants the game out before SS0 /KOF2003!! eek_2

Sorry but I don't mean that.
Its not a review, just a impression.
Pls read it again if you missed it. wink

I was just expressing some of my impression regarding this game.
All I heard was how good this game is and never heard any bad things yet.

Some people don't have a chance to play them and bought the home cart(if any)just because of the good impression people spoke of.
$300+ for a home cart or $1800 for a MVS is not cheap, maybe for you its cheap.

Its just another opinion people can take note if they are planning to get this game. make_fac

I'll actually say that this was a very wise move that will maximize their profits.

By continually dropping the price over time, (they sold out their first run) they can get more people on board. They just reaped a nice sum from the places that would get it regardless of price.. they'll let the demand rise again, then run some more off at a lower price. It's smart business. Get the highest $$$ for the high demand, then start roping in the rest.

I see the MVS coming out at Matrimelee levels... appx. 400 a kit. By making the board JAMMA and not MVS, you prevent bootlegging and makes it more desirable for the operator, they don't need to buy an MVS board if they don't already have one and it justifies the price tag instead of a cart for $1850. Nobody will pay $1850 for a cart, but for a board, that's a rollout price.

Nobody yet knows what this game has to offer in playabillity or special moves, nobody knows them all yet.

Just wait abit to see whats in the game first.
I thought rb ff2 was a great game, but when i learnt that i was 77 special moves i didn't know, i was like, shit man, i thought this game was nice anyway & i was missing loads of moves for each character.

"deffty", i never meant to say your players in your arcade suck, i only meant to use your arcade as an example.

Good players will play strong characters first intill they get a better feel for the game, but not so good players tend to use the same characters as it brushes off onto them too. & the more play you have the better your your going to progress.

When I saw the game in action I had no complaints. Bringing Capcom characters to the neo hardware is an amazing aspect all on it's own. As much as I love the team and tag fighers, It's nice to see a really clean new one-on-one release.

It doesnt sound like a balance issue. It sounds more like everyone you were playing against is best with those characters.

The character rosters sucks! I can't really see the difference between RYU, RYO, GOUKI, TAKUMA,KEN,SAGAT, not to mention orochi KEN, orochi RYU(if any) shin Gouki, shin takuma? DAN?....
Ryu and Ryo play the same? spock
Takuma and Sagat play the same? spock

Just because two characters have a qcf projectile it doesnt mean they play the same.

Anyway thanks for taking your time to write all that. I appriciate it just dont agree with it. :p

Thanks for sharing your impressions.

I agree that it does feel like a barebones fighter.

Of course, some interpret that to be a great thing -but its perfectly understandable that others would rather have games in the newer, trendier styles.

Doesn't suprise me one bit at all. I'll judge it for myself when my (the one Diversions that ever gets anything) Arcade gets it in, but in all seriousness, PLAYMORE is just jerkin' off at this point almost making sure that they've got no more than a 2 or 3 year run of life left in them, with half baked games. Gone forever is the innovation I remember from SNK, and even they went nuts during the SF II boom leaving behind most of the other genres that could WOW ppl even today if done right. But it's still a hoot knowing that all this is done on almost 20 year old hardware (13 years actually, if my math is right) and that's still something no other machine can boast.

Yes I agree... I am almost going mad waiting for my MVS cart to arrive from Cosmicco. It should be here next week at the latest which is great as I have the week off! :) I've already played the game and it kicks serious ass imho!

I'm still looking forward to SvC though, whenever I can afford the damn MVS cart when it finally comes out. Thanks for the impressions though deffty, it's natural that at least a few people out there won't be pleased with the game, no matter how good/bad it is. Maybe you will warm to it in time?

Anyway, at least you got to play it... I have like a 0% chance of seeing it in the arcades over here. Uk sucks loco

Also remeber SNK does not make all of the $$ on this one, Capcom get a big old cut since their characters had to be licensed for use in this game.

The prices will drop bu more slwly than usual a this title will require more money for SNK make as much as a title that was thiers alone.

I hope people don't believe that this game really took that much money to make. Damn near half the work was already done before they started!

Indeedy :)

This is by far and away the best thing that has EVER come out of Playmore so far. I haven't played SvC yet, but if the rehash is true, then I will be very disappointed.

Why is it so difficult for Playmore to redraw sprites??

Why can't they produce the type of outstanding bg's we saw in earlier KoF games, LB series and SS series?
