OK, I just got Mark Of The Wolves recently and after playing it a ton, I no longer am happy with the slower speed of Last Blade 1. I plan on selling LB1 and am not sure what I should get. I really lke Mark of the Wolves fast and crazy gameplay and want to find similar titles.

My complete list of fighters is as follows: Samurai Shodown, Samurai Shodown 2, King Of Fighters 1994 (I owned 95, 96, 97, 98, 00,01,02, but did not like them and sold them all off recently), Fatal Fury Special, Fatal Fury, Art Of Fighting, Mark Of The Wolves. As you'll note a lot are older games and I have most of them mainly for Nostalgia's sake. I got out of Neo for a few years you see... so I need some fast playing modern fighters!

Anyway, I am looking at: World Heroes Jet and World Heroes 2 Perfect, are either any good? Is Perfect worth so much more than Jet?

Is Art Of Fighting 3 (correction made it oiginally said 4...oops) worth $200-$250?

And finally does Last Blade 2 play faster than Part 1?

Any other titles I might be missing?

Thanx in advance for your help!

Also, sorry if you see this pst twice, I posted it in the 16-bit section, too.

I wouldn't pay more than $50 for Art of Fighting 4.

Well LB is not only about the fighting but about the atmosphere of the game. The speed issue looks a bit odd to me since it looks like you enjoy FFSpecial, which is not a fast game Anyhow, if you do not like it you will not like LB2..

If you must get a WH game you should go with WHP, since WHJet is a mere WH2 rehash and it looks feels more outdated than WHP.

Personally I like WHP a lot, and it’s much better than WHJet because it has better graphics, better music, game play and, the most important for you, it’s considerably faster WHJet. The CD version of WHP is great and cheaper.

AOF 4 definitely would be worth more than 250 USD since you would be its only owner wink . There are only 3 AOF games LOL and certainly the JPN version of AOF 3 could be worth what you said, if it’s in mint shape. The US version could be worth up to 450 USD.

If you like the AOF series and you liked the first instalment of the series I would recommend AOF 2, it’s a challenging game and very fast (you can select the game’s speed) and keeps the feeling of its predecessor.

You may also want to consider the Real Bout series, the faster is think is RB2.

Kabuki Klash is also a great game, but not ultra fast.

If you want a KOF game you should go for KOF’96, 98 or 99 but none of them would be much faster than the KOF that you have already disliked.

Also you should enjoy Samurai Shodown 3 and 4. SS3 is cheap and challenging.

Whenever you should have doubts about prices you may want to check the Price Guide (which is merely an orientation) here:

lol, while I don't want to get into another argument with Pep, Takumaji & co. about the merits of the World Heroes series, I do think I should warn you that if you think LB1 is slow, you're not going to be happy with a World Heroes game.

Hahaha LOL, well WHP is not slow IMHO, some characters may be but others are fast (like Dragon) and in fact the action is quite speedy.

I will agree with you in relation to the other WH instalments.

I'd chose World Heroes Perfect over Jet, because Jet is jus' basically the same game as World Heroes 2 with minor differences. The Last Blade 2 plays somewhat faster than the first one, but not as fast as Garou MOTW. If you want a fast moving fighting game get Real Bout Fatal Fury Special or Real Bout Fatal Fury 2.

I think your collection of fighters has it quite covered.

I'd say Art of fighting 3 is the game for you, great graphics & fast play.

I'm keen on Breakers, and AODK/GanGan too :D

Real Bout Special is best ever IMHO.

I say sell your Neo Geo and get a supergun and a CPS2 board. "Modern fast paced fighters" aren't the kind of things you find on a Neo. I say you get a Blah VS Blah game.. those are really fast.

Or you can pick up shitty games like RotD or Matrimelee, those are kinda fast.

I find MOTW to be a great fast paced fighter, along with LB1 and LB2.

Personally I really only like the more modern fast paced fighters when it comes to having something to play for some good VS. matches. I'd have to say my favorites by far and away for faster games would be:

MOTW
Real Bout 2 (I just got this, it's awesome!)
KOF98
KOF2k2
LB1/LB2 (can't go wrong with either IMO)

Those right there are probably my top favorite Neo fighters and I also think that they're pretty much the fastest fighters for the system, and if I'm missing one then someone please let me know as I'd sure like to try it. :D

Also if you want a newer game Matrimelee is much better than ROTD, although I wouldn't put it anywhere near those games that I mentioned above in terms of gaming goodness. :)

Last Blade 1 slow?

WTF?

Fuckin' n00bs I swear.

If you want something fast here's a good one.

Marvel vs. Capcom 2.

Oh and a better site to visit.

Ouch, pretty harsh. Give Last Blade more playtime rimm_rs. It's an overall work of art rather than just a fighting game, you wont find many members here who would rate MOTW above LB 1 or 2. It's worth the asking price for the audio alone in my opinion. Stick with it, Last Blade is the finest example of what SNK were all about. Quality.

WOW, thanx for the responses, you all rock!

Between Real Bout 2 and Real Bout Special, which one should I get?

I read the reviews here and neogeoforlife.com and it sound like they are both good, but similar also.

Opinions, please! ;-)

I own both and I say RB2 all the way.

RBS has more "Presentation" type stuff inbetween matches which form some reason appeals to a lot of people here, but I prefer RB2 for it's speed and gameplay. It just feels nicer to play to me.

Ouch!!! That hurts...those were the two marquee games i got for my NEO when I bought it recently. I was going to go ahead and purchase a KOF title but i have them all on other systems so i decided to go with something new and pick up the older titles later to beef up my collection.

Hey rimm_rs if you are looking to unload that LB1....i will most definitely give it a good home.

What exactly is it about RotD that everyone seems to hate? I cant just be Johann that everyone claims ruins the game b/c like any other SNK boss he has an apparent weakness. I guess i just want to know why RotD is sought after so much if it sux so to speak.

Here are my Top 5 pics for Fast Neo Fighters:

1. Breakers or Breakers Revenge
2. Ninja Masters
3. Real Bout 2
4. KOF 98
5. Garou: MOTW

Also ROTD and Matrimelee seem like fast games but I have not had much time to really sit down and play them.

I'd pick Real Bout Special over Real Bout 2, because Real Bout 2 is bout, $150-$200 for the JPN home cart. Versus, Real Bout Special, is only bout $110-$150 for the JPN home cart. Real Bout Special and Real Bout 2 aren't that much different, Real Bout 2 has slight better gameplay and 2 new characters, Xiangfei and Rick. If you want to, you can own them both. But, I would go with Real Bout Special over Real Bout 2, because it is $50 less, and it ain't that much different. If you want, you could try them out thru emulation.

What about the speed of the play are RBS and RB2 about the same?

Also, are the visuals better in RB2 than RBS or about the same?

How does RBS control compare to Mark of the wolves in terms of response (Of the fighters i own MOTW is the best IMHO)?

The speed of Real Bout Special and Real Bout 2 are about the same, they are very fast moving. I think they jus as fast as Garou MOTW, maybe a little bit slower because they were made before MOTW but way faster than the KOF games. The graphics in Real Bout 2 and Real Bout Special are very good, the backgrounds and sprites are very well designed. I highly recommend both of these games. But, I chose Real Bout Special over Real Bout 2.
