Could someone move this to War Room?

The cockfight is on page 2...

....................................

What's everyone's opinion on this?

I received an order from mdgamesales today - I had expected the cart labels to be scratched, wrinkled and tattered, so I had some of the color homebrew ones printed up at Kinko's.

Instead the carts all look mint, albeit in Japanese.

I'm having a hard time deciding what to do...preserve the carts the way they are? Or affix the much prettier homebrew labels.

To freak or not to freak? Anyone? help

Not to freak...

I thought he send them to you with freaked labels..I would of sent them right back..
I have one MVS cart with a colored/freaked label and I don't like it at all.

I want my MVS carts to have the original labels..

But you own them so do what makes you happy..

it's not right, originals are becoming harder to find these days. because everyone's replacing them with english prints, and color no less!

Yeah, theres a certain dissapointment to recieving games with homebrew labels.

Even japanese games with the original english label over the japanese one are still dissapointing to me, so I'd say get some shockboxes and it wont bother you a bit. There is also a site (I think it's being put together by Briggs) where there are scans of english and japanese labels to b e used as a reference, if you have something that he doesn't have there yet, contribute to it if you can.

Also, I should be getting around to making shockbox inserts for a buncha games really soon (all the insert spines will match, as they will all use the same template). If you would like I could probably send you a cd with all the ones I get around to making after I get Adobe Illustrator.

I think people made their own labels because the old label gets dirty from bein' used and whatnot. I wouldn't care if it was a homemade label, longs if it isn't a boot.

If the labels are in mint shape, I would keep them, no matter if they are Japanese or not.

If the labels are scratched, nasty etc. (carts you can find in arcade centres) I cannot stand them, at least I prefer to remove them and clean the cart, after that a replacement would be nice.

Me myself I regard myself as a gamer, not bothered about what region or shape the cart is in. However I do like my collection to look good so I have a collection of shockbox's with nice covers etc. I haven't replaced any labels yet but if a label is really knackered then I would. If the labels are in good order (perfectly good) then I wouldn't.

In the end it's up to you, they are your games!

most people say they wouldn't be bothered if a game had an odd label as long as it was original but that's bullshit. I've had a few good semi rare mvs games taht I'd wanted to sell or trade for a couple of months now. About 5 people were interested and all 5 just kind of left when they heard about the labels even though I told them that the games were original because I'd checked. Gamers or collectors? mostly collectors on this site. and lets face it, you're not gonna hold on to those forever unless it's something like ww7.

I would rather own a cart with a torn up japanese label than have any cart with an english reproduction label all day long. Whenever I see a cart on ebay with a repro label, I immediately assume it's probably a boot and not worth my time. Plus, carts with repro labels don't display to great.

No offense supergoose, But the very first picture of the carts looks very nice and presentable. Your repro labels look kinda cool, but I'm just not into them at all.

The question is... who fucking cares about a damn TEXT sticker in the spine of the MVS carts? They are intended to identify the carts, nothing more. I mean, there's no art whatosever. If you are hat picky and are more worried about "Mintity" and "Rarity" then go collect AES carts.
I don't even bother to replace the (oh, the horror!) torn original spines with that much better looking homebrew ones, because they are OK for me anyway.

Shut the fuck up supergoose. I never asked you to fake prices, I asked you to update the price guide because some games are going for higher prices now. Don't lie to make yourself look better. You are just a lazy MVS analyst who refuses to do the work in which you volunteered. GROW UP.

What is it with people here and selling every fucking thing they own?

If I was like that the only system I would own is a playstation 2.

you SO don't know, what you're babbling about ...

and i told you, that cosmicco's and md's prices were most important. i didn't care about shipping costs and stupid ebay auctions.

I never mentioned anything about shipping costs. Apparently you don't know what YOU are talking about. How can you say the the going rates on ebay are not valid? I'm not talking about like one auction that that may have had the possibility of being shilled, but the actual going rate for the same cart among multiple auctions. You are a child if you are going to start attacking me because I said I wasn't into your MVS labels. I was being polite before you started flaming, but to be fully honest they look like cheap crap. Haha, obviously you noticed that they looked like cheap crap too or you wouldn't have been so angry that I said I prefered the original "boring" mvs labels. I can't believe that you needed to post a lie that was completely irrelevant to the topic just because you were offended that I like the way my ORIGINAL mvs carts look. The worst thing of it all is that this is all coming from the MVS analyst. You have made it clear to everyone that you don't analize anything. So pretty much you just go to MDgames and look at their price list and that is what you contribute? Pathetic.

will you ever get it, that i won't update the guide again? i'm not a mvs price guide anylyst anymore.
at least not as long as Shawn doesn't answer my email. don't blame me. it's not my site and i won't change the guide completely without having Shawn's 'ok'. but yeah, guess you already knew about all my plans and the time, i put into that project, the email i sent ...

as for the stickers :
yeah, as if i would have cared. i don't sell them anyway. stick with you're dirty carts, if you're happy with 'em.

as for the carts and their prices :
there are only very few reliable sources nowadays and ebay isn't one of them. there are just too many boots, carts with replaced labels and scammers out there.

The repro labels look ok, but that`s just as far as it goes for me, I like the original labels and buy only the carts I can find with clean or not so badly damaged labels...

but that`s just the way I like `em.

If they are in good shape leave 'em be. No reason to mess with them IMO.

They're your carts, do with them whatever the hell you want. Just know if you ever think about re-selling those carts if you tamper with the labels then they will be worth less should you try to sell them. Although if you plan on keeping them forever, then who cares what you do to them, they're yours! :D

Personally I prefer ShockBoxes to custom labels, but I personally don't care whatsoever about what kind of label is on the used cart I buy. Hell I'd prefer a fucked up label on a legit game so long as it makes the price substantially lower.

there are some games you can bear to part with, I'm not very fond of puzzled at all. But you came to realize that no matter how many systems you own, or even which they are, there's alot of garbage for each one that'd just be taking up space. btw I own 9 systems

Hahahaha. And you think cosmicco sells 100% authentic carts? You are a moron for excluding ebay. This whole argument wasn't about the value of your carts changing because you changed your labels, It was the fact that YOU LIED about me to make your shitty labels look better....and a hell of a lie at that. Did you not say "ResOGlas already asked me to raise the prices for the mvs carts, but i refused to use fake prices." as your reply to my saying that I wasn't that into your labels. You are not a good person and I will make all efforts to make this known.
