Over 3 months ago ,before I joined this forum, I ordered two Hori Neo Fighting sticks from buy-rite. About 20 e-mails and 10 phone calls later, my package arrived today....

They only shipped out one controller, and the thing is thrashed! They didn't even use any packing materials when they boxed it up. The joystick is covered in rust and what seems to be cookie crumbs crusted all around the joystick. Of course, the joystick wasn't in fully working order either! Only about 1/3 of the buttons/switches work. I now know that I made a huge mistake by ordering through buy-rite, but I can't believe that they would even attempt to sell something in this condition. Oh well, off to submit another report to the BBB. With so many bad reports about this company, why is the place still around?? very_ang blow_top

Just thought that I would add that I opened up the controller and not only was there dust and dirt inside, but there was a large amount of mold...

Where the hell did buy-rite find this thing??

Sorry to hear that happend. I always tell people not to buy from them...

but for some reason they think that their order will be different..

If someone doesn't know about them, then that's not their fault, although I always look for references when buying from online shops for the first time.

I would like to see all the people that have been burned by these people to go and pay them a visit all at once :D w/ torches and pitchforks, lol

That truly does suck, sorry to hear that.

I will never understand why people continue to buy from places like Buy-Rite will all the documented bad transactions and horror stories floating around. It's like when people order from NGF and freak out when they get screwed.

Learn from history or you will be doomed to repeat it.

I think thats one of the things about being a gamer on the internet. You get into fights with fanboys in message boards, and sombody you know or you yourself will be screwed by Buy-Rite.

I really hope they shut them down and put that guy behind bars. How many more complaints do they need to get before there gone?! 300 in 6 months? Thats not enough for them to get checked out? Come on!

That sucks, dude.

The weird thing is a year ago, I ordered Rockman Battle & Fighters for NGPC and received it complete and without a hitch.

...But I consider myself lucky, and will never do business with them again. Gotta quit while I'm ahead.

I ordered SF:Zero 3 for import PS WAAAY back when it was released from them, and didn't have a problem. I believe I also got my 5 in 1 Saturn cart from them. But that was long before I heard of any of the crap they've pulled, no more buyrite for me. I'd send the controller back with a letter, then call my credit card company or something to get the charge off.

Man, you guys won't believe how many things I've ordered from them and actually received!!

The first item I ordered had to be one of those GameShark devices in order to play import games on my PlayStation, took less than a week and that was when they were originally on www.buyrite1.com.

The second time I ordered from them was when Rockman X5 went down to $25 back in Winter 2000 or so and I got that item within a week as well.

And the final time I ordered from them was DDR pads. I got those in a little over a week from what I remember.

Basically, I just got very lucky and once I started to hear some bad stories on what they had done to other people I decided for the life of me that I'd stay away from their website.

Sounds like a series of books could be written on the bad tales of Buyrite.com customers.

Just be wary folks, and don`t worry as I`m sure sometime in the future that they will get bitten in the arse by it. Hopefully someone important will try and buy from them one day, Buyrite will try and screw them over but wont be prepared for what will come wink

They need to improve their customer services or they`ll be gone with the wind.

i had ordered a few times from them in the past(before I knew about their evil ways). I never had any problems with the actual merchandise, but what pissed me off is say I'd order something 2nd day on a monday and wouldn't receive it until like thursday or friday.. wtf!?

so because of that i stopped doing business with them.

One of these days, someone will go into Buyrite with a samurai sword or a shot gun and fuck shit up.

The media won't understand at first, but all of us will.

I'm one of those dumbfucks who ordered from and got screwed by Buy-Rite.

On the hunt for a DC copy of SFIII:Third Strike and not able to find one, I decide to check out Buy-Rite.

Oh look, they have a copy for only $30.

Should I risk it? I mean...they can't be as bad as everyone says and besides, it's only $30.

So I placed the order and a month and a half pass by and no game.

I've e-mailed and phoned, but got shafted around by loosely worded answers and other various diversion tactics (which they seem really good at).

As of now, I don't even care. I'll just go look for another copy of the game and tell everyone I meet to avoid them like the plague.

ResOglas:

I would

(a) at the very least, take a few minutes and file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau at http://complaints.bbb.org/Welcome.asp
(there already a number of complaints)

(b) if I really wanted to screw them, file a small claims action in California and fill out the paperwork that would make them pay in NC. That would teach'em. I have all the links on how to as a featured post on the top of the thread. It sounds like they lied to you and you should at least be entitled to some compensation. While it won't be a lot, it'd almost be worth it to just let them know that people won't stand for it.

I noticed people who live within driveing distance to them seem to have less problems than somebody who lives far away or over seas. Does anybody know if they have changed owners over the past couple of years?

I am still surprised people who widely uses the internet and has heard about buyrite ACTUALLY dares to shop there. If they happen to have something you can't find anywhere, just pass without it till you find it somewhere else. Don't think "This can't happen to ME", because it most likely will. Do you actually need to be scammed to believe the hype? I'm tempted to say that whoever shops there knowing the facts almost deserves to be scammed, but what is actually needed is that the legal forces close that damn shop.

This sounds like my experience with them. Before their rep got really bad, I had easily spent over $1000 with them and never had a problem. Then I started hearing all these bad stories and I decided to stay away.

And honestly, I'd like to see them screw over some nutjob and see him beat the shit out of the management there.

Matt
