Bottom line

We debate how "much better" some games are compared to others.

I am a self confessed Metal Slug addict, who has never played KOF (apart from checking it out on mame)I dont understand the moves really, just munch buttons.

Are there many out there that are visa versa.
Does everyone play MS or do I have my head firmly stuck in the sand ? I know the fighting game fraturnity are passionate about the games.

PS not knocking any of the kof games, just used that as an example of a fighting game series, I intend to get 98 soon

With me I play the hell out of Metal Slug when ever I take a break from drawing or if I don't feel like breaking out any year of KoF. It's just that every new thing that seems to come out now all the teenie-bobbers are comparing the new Turok game on GBA to Metal Slug X(dumb bastards were raised wrong) so since I like to consider the KoF series the real backbone of fighting games with the Fatal Fury series also. So don't worry if it looks like your the only one who still plays MS, I think damn near everyone here is an undercover(or overcover)MS freak

Once you get '98, you will realize you'll have make that conversion. And on that day you open that package and pop that cart in your machine your eyes will truely be open.

I LOVE Metal Slug, but for the BEST Neo fighting games, start with Fatal Fury Special, Art of Fighting 2, and Samurai Shodown 2. KOF will come later.

I have the Fatal Fury Special mvs cart, tried playing the game many times but just dont get it, there must be something Im missing.
Is there a faq for fighting games, combos etc.
I do want to get into fighting games but dont know how.
Maybe just too old a fart, I grew up with SI,galaga,Scramble etc No regrets

Well, Fatal Fury Special is a pretty hard game IMO. And it plays very different from KOF for example...

honestly I don't play metal slug. I have before, and it's fun with a friend, but not something I consider a 'must own' title.

I love fighting games, and KOF is alright, but I've decided that Last Blade 2 is most worthy of my time right now.

Personally, I can't relate to that, or vice-versa. I love all the major gaming genres.
