I bought MVS KoF 96 and 98 (just the cart) from some guy on ebay. It took exactly 2 weeks for my package to arrive from when he claimed to have shipped it,. Inside? Viewpoint and Puzzle Bobble 1! Well, I played Viewpoint and I really like it, despite the insane difficulty. Puzzle Bobble doesn't work even after a thorough cleaning, but it looks like Viewpoint by itself is worth at least as much as the two KoFs.

So, what do you guys think the best course of action is? I could to trade back for my KoF games. If I did this I'd want him to ship first since he took so long the first time. I'd also want him to pay for my shipping, since it was his fault. I think he'll be angry if I suggest this, but it's the only way I'd be satisfied. Or, I could suggest to him that I keep Viewpoint and the broken Puzzle Bobble cart. Do you guys think that's a good deal for me? Or I could just ask him what he wants to do about it. Considering the lousy service I've received so far, I doubt he would suggest anything wonderful for me.

Ultimately, this will not end too bad for me. I paid money and got a good game that is said to be a fairly rare cart. But I'd like any suggestions on the best request I can make of the seller.

Btw, Viewpoint is beautiful for a game made in 1992. I love the music and the levels have great variety.

he probably sent your KOF's to the guy who ordered viewpoint and puzzle bobble. If thats the case, this could be a really bad situation. Personally, I would try to get the KOF's from him, but if that doesn't work, try to get some contact info from the dude with the kof games, because he's probably bitching at the dude too.

If it's that much trouble, keep viewpoint. You get what some consider the greatest shooter on Neo Geo. Plus, Viewpoint on MVS isn't as available as the KOFs.

The seller messed up, maybe he will learn a lesson. In the mean time, enjoy your awesome shooter.

If you guys think so. But am I getting a good deal? What is a cart only Viewpoint worth? I searched for it under auctions completed but there weren't any. There is one going for about $60 right now with five days left, that's a good sign. Maybe I'll wait to see what it sells for before I make my decision.

I'll probably end up telling him I'm okay keeping Viewpoint unless he wants to pay for shipping both ways AND ships first.

But still, any other takes on the situation are welcome.

That viewpoint is worth about $60-75 on its own... if the PB is real (which it is probably not) that is another $60 or so cart... That's a pretty good trade for a couple common KOF carts either way.... Still, I think someone is going to be pissed wink

Those prices don't sound right. Puzzle Bobble 1 seems to consistently go for about $30. At any rate, I've tried for half an hour to make this one play, so unless someone can recommend a better way of cleaning it (I thoroughly wiped it with alcohol-dipped cotton and then dried it), I'm gonna pronounce it broken.

And I'm not sure that view point price is right. If there's one identical one on Ebay right now going for $60 with five days left (real bidding usually happens in the last ten seconds), then I bet it's worth more than you say.

What are you using to play MVS games? A phantom converter, or a MVS mobo?

tell the guy whats going on.tell him you want to trade puzzle bobble back since it's broke.try to get a king of fighters for it.
so what,he sent you a good game, but you didn't buy it.so he's at fault.if he cares at all about his ebay reputation he'll try to work it out.
dont even tell him about the kof games.just tell him you got a puzzle bobble from him thats broke.the game is broke anyway,so it really doesn't matter who ships first.no loss to you.but try to get him to ship first.
if you seem to be nice i bet he'll work it out.but get his contact info now why you can.
listen to me i know what i'm talking about!!

The Puzzle Bobble game could be a boot, if you're using a Phatnom-1 converter, the Phatnom-1 does not play boots. Puzzle Bobble MVS carts are known to have a lot of bootlegs. So, it could be a bootleg, the only way you can tell is if you open up the cartridge to see if there are legit parts in there.

Well, as for someone who has bought just about every neo geo game... but, did so a few years ago, you may be right. Prices have been going up. I personally paid $50 for my Viewpoint with marquee three years ago. Second, ebay is not the place to buy MVS, you need to be steered to some good shops:

MDGameSales
VideoConnections
Cosmic Company

etc...

MDGameSales is half of the eBay's available MVS carts. I just wish bro had MM's to go with his carts.

nruva: thanks for the recommended shops. I'll be sure to check them out. Though, for the record, I only bid on ebay auctions when I know I'll be getting a good deal.

Jedite and SSSensei: I'm using an old four slot in a cabinet (first model I think). Do those have any record of not playing certain games or bootlegs? I should know.

greedostick: I really like your advice. Considering he was so unorganized that he sent the games late, took forever in responding to my emails, and sent the wrong games, chances are he doesn't remember if I ordered KoF or Puzzle Bobble. I think I'll do what you said and try to trade Puzzle Bobble for KoF 96. I like Puzzle Bobble, but I think there are better versions of it on consoles.

I'll tell him the truth, as to avoid bad feedback. And ask that I keep Viewpoint but get a replacement/refund for the broken Puzzle Bobble.

Right now I'm going to try again to make Puzzle Bobble work. Any other things I could do to make it work?

I had an eBay seller make a mistake like this awile back. I won an auction for KOF 97 AES and he sent me a Fatal Fury Special AES instead. Natuarally I was pissed because FFS is nowhere near the value of the KOF 99, so I emailed him and told him about his mistake, and he sent me the correct game and told me to keep the FFS he sent by mistake.

Whatever you do, make sure he doesn't try to charge you for any extra shipping with anything returned to him or anything else he sends. You've paid your end of the deal, anything else is his problem. Good luck

Your in what I call a fkn Headache situation..
That's one thing I hate, sellers that don't pay attention to what they sell or ship..
I just went through that long battle getting my money back for a Ghost Pilots boot..

I would keep the Viewpoint..and ask for some sort of a refund sent first for the PB,providing it doesn't work at all..
The refund a doubt would be sent though.

Otherwise I'd keep them both..but I'm very honest so I'd tell the guy...I'd do a search to see if anyone else won the two games you were sent..
Someone else might have your games and has his own headache..
I'd only send them back after I got my Kof's and he's pays to ship the carts you have back to him..
Shoot, why should you have to spend on shipping them back..
I recently bought KOF 96 & 99...I didn't pay much for them and they are almost full kits.

I see the KOF's a lot..I never even got outbid for either of the Kof's I bought.
The Viewpoint however I don't see much..and when I do I always get outbid.

Now if I was you and I had Viewpoint & PB already,I'd really be pissed.

If those games where sent to me by mistake original/working and I didn't have them yet and I was allowed to keep them..Shit,then I'd be in my fkn glory..

Shoot If I had a spare KOF 96 & 99 I'd trade you both of them for the Viewpoint alone.

I emaled him:

I got a package from you. I has the wrong games in it. I ordered KoF 96 and 98. I got Puzzle Bobble 1 and Viewpoint. I wouldn't mind so much, but Puzzle Bobble is 100% broken (will not run in my MVS even after cleaning). I'd like a replacement for Puzzle Bobble. Please send one of the KoF games I ordered, and I will send the broken Puzzle Bobble back to you, if you wish. What do you think?

-Mick

------

I'f he's willing to trade one of the KoF games for the broken Puzzle Bobble, then I don't mind paying to ship Puzzle Bobble back. With any luck, he will ship KoF, but not ask for Puzzle Bobble, since there's a good chance he already knows it's not working.

Hehe, if I were evil, I'd demand to trade back both my games for both KoFs, and demand he ship first. And before I shipped mine, I'd take the boards out of the Viewpoint cartridge and replace them with World Heroes! ...but don't worry, I'm not evil.

Well, it's resolved. After much fuss and about five emails each, he's agreed to all my terms. I'm just lucky I held all the trump cards. Imagine if he sent me something worthless by mistake instead of Viewpoint.

At any rate, we managed to resolve it without any arguing or insults. The final deal is that he will send my KoFs to me once he gets them back from the person who was supposed to get Viewpoint. Once I get my games plus shipping money, and can test them to see that they work, I send his games back.

I know, not very interesting. It'd be cooled if he sued me or I threatened his life. Too bad. Thanks for all the advice, people.
