Advanced Entertainment System, some people call them "NGH" which stands for Neo Geo Home.

I would love to know why even though both the arcade system and the home system are advanced entertainment systems why is only the home system knows as AES.

Mostly everyone uses the term AES, no one ever uses NGH. Either people call AES or the Home cart.

I don't use it anymore because it's retarded. The Neo Geo home cart is an "AES", so is the Neo Geo CD (look at the lid of a top loader). I also have the term "Advanced Entertainment System" printed on my Captain Tomaday mini marquee.

I don't get why people say "I'm looking for a Neo Geo AES home system, or Neo Geo AES console, Neo Geo AES system"

Just drop the AES and people will still know what you're talking about.

Got that strange feeling; I've already seen this debate several times before...

There is a lot of debate as to which is the proper term, I guess neither side will ever learn. In Japan they are just called Neo Geo ROM. AES or NGH has no meaning there.

On eBay they're sold as AES. I know it's probably incorrect, but its too late to revert back.

Well, we all know why we don't call homecarts "Neo-Geo ROMs" now, don't we?

i really dont think it matters at all and its a tired, useless debate.

but if someone was to go to the NeoStore they would find the following for sale:

- New Boxed AES System
- English AES System

as well as the cart sections titled:

-English AES
-Japanese AES

Quite apart from the fact that I don't give a heck about the whole issue, AES refers to the system, while ROM to the carts.

But this does not mean it's the name of the system: it's just a pompous definition of the system itself (like pro-gear spec).
