Ok, you know in the 'defeated portrait' each chara has is face paitent (sign of his having been 'owned' in a traditional Japanese style).
Well, some of this 'face paiting' are very cool reference.
The coolest is indeed Chinnen: his whole face is paited as the giant Lilith from Evangelion: ROTFLMAO.
I'm sure you may find many other reference, from both old games, animation, tv shows, in each portrait!
