Ok we all love the neo right? Let's look at some of the main down falls of our beloved system. Things that keep it from being popular beyond our cicle. Why don't more people have a neo well theres....
A: Price ( I dont care what anyone says the neo is one pricey system. Games that can run in the $100 to the $1000 range.(Granted MVS are cheeper Im talking about home system) Lots of people see no need in spending up to $300 for old hardware. (Yes i know you can find them cheeper).
B: Out dated hardware. The neo lacks 3D effects,(Which i could care less for) Vast amouts of on screen colors, transparency effects, add good rotation and zooming effects.(Yes the neo can do some but it could be alot better).
C: Lack of third party support. Well how many well know companys can you name that make neo games. Hmmmmmmm snk. Well thats about it. Yes a few have in the past but no of which were really big.
First thing is first. Price.. The rareity and lack of demand are some of the main reasons why neo games are so much. I dont know how much it cost the make carts. If the carts do cost alot to make to this date, mabey its because of how outdated they are. By now there should be a more affordble way to make them. With new technology mabey they can redsign them to still work on the neo, but at a cheeper cost.
Next out dated hardware. I know there has been probably someone who has said something like this before. With new handheld systems like Game Boy Advance it is apparent that it is now possible to carm something like 32 bits of power into a small device. Rember the super fx chip in Star Fox for the Super Nintendo. Well i know that it was not anything special but. If something like this could be done to the neo carts, mabey it could bring some juice back into the neo. Like a speical 32 or 64 bit chip in the cart. If they could reduce the size of the current componets in the neo carts they would have plenty of room for such an addition. Added transprancey , zooming and rotation effects, and more colors lots more colors. Fix lots of slow down problems as well. The neo would see new life.
Third party support... Well if somehow all the above could be done then mabey third party developers could be intrested in neo game developement.
What this is all about is i have a bad fear that neo is on the verge of death. Soon in a few years with things like the crystal system and newer game systems, the new snk might abadon the neo. I would hate to see that happen. I want to be playing new neo games for many years to come.
I know all of which i have said are all but dreams in my head ( Which i have know idea how it all could be done) Its all just a fan not wanting to let go. Im an happy to see or at least hear rummors of new neo titles. But come on people for real how long do you think its going to go.
Well enough of me typeing all ready.
What do you guys think?
Forgive my poor spelling on all the above
Long live the NEO!!!!
