I've come to learn that "a shit game" on these boards is just the opposite

ALOT of people like to come and rant on these boards about what is the "shittest" KOF, the crummiest SamSho, the worst Metal Slug, but honestly these are all just nit-pick complaints. Yes KOF98 is better than 2001, but 2001 DOES NOT SUCK! Its actually pretty solid game, just not up to the super high standards of this community. The only 2 Neo games that I have played that is actually garbage are 3 Count Bout and Super Spy. If you want truly want crappy games play over 80% of PS2/Xbox/GC games, now that is crap.

It makes me wonder what kind of harsh criticism that the new release Matrimelee and the soon to be released SNK vs Capcom are going to face. There is no way SvC is gonna live up to all the hype, but I'm not really concerned about that. I'm just gonna approach with low expectations and hopefully be pleasntly surprised. Step it down notch folks, enjoy the game for what it is, a game, and don't get all pissy about this character's stance is all wrong and this background just totally ruins the experience. I understand that some of you are hardcore, but try to come down some time with us peons of Neo and just a good old-fashion gaming session.

Well that is just my opinion which means jack squat, but hey I vented just like anyone else on these boards do, so I can go to bed a happy man.

BTW, I like 3 Count Bout and Super Spy :o Good memories there, with both games.

That's because I'm a fan of the Neo Geo..and I play it a lot.
I do think some Neo Geo games are better than others,opinions are expected here..
That's what this community is all about here at NG.com...
Most of us here love the Neo Geo,but I could see another site saying that "all" Neo Geo games are crap..like a PS2 or Xbox fanboy site..etc..

No, I'll stick my neck out and say that, although it was probably the worst of all the KOF's, KOF01 was not a bad game.

I and my friends had fun with it , and that's all that really matters for a game.

2k1 is the worst KOF I have ever played. Doesnt feel good, doesnt look good, doesnt sound good. It's a patch work/rushed, underfunded and undermaned game. It's unfortunate.

2K2...I havent played it yet.

SS4 is not a shit game, but it isnt great either. I play it...for some reason, but 3 is a much more solid game in my opinion.

SS1 is good, but ss2 makes it obsolete.

50 percent of games on the Neo are garbage. Either because they have been outlcassed by sequels, or numbed over time.

It's a fact.

Some things on neo, you cant get anywhere else. And that is why I enjoy.

Actually u are wrong about this, I think since KOF 98, it mantains the same quality, for good or bad. spock , I mean not much improvements since then.

Let's face it folks, most of the Neo's games just haven't aged well. A gem to some people are going to be complete turds in other's. It all depends on what kind of memories you have playing these old games for the first time. In the case of the newer generation of games, it all depends on what you liked so much about the older generation. In all honesty I think we should be totally ecstatic about the fact that new Neo games are being created at all! Bitch and moan all you want about how certain characters get changed or how stupid the BG's look, but the fact of the matter is that we are all very lucky that the Neo isn't completely dead and buried. From a software developers stand point, Neo Geo just isn't where the money is.

Metal Slug 4 is a shitty game!

If I buy a game for more than 300$ and it
shows up to be a game that I don't play very
often, because "mediocre" is the best you can
say about it, then I am very upset because
I am not very rich and feel like I got screwed.

Others, who can spend money without to think
twice or those who play romz may have another
opinion.

And another thing: not we have to thank Playmore
for producing games, but they have to thank us
for we are still supporting the NeoGeo with our
money.

With the release of Metal Slug 5, we will see
if Playmore is still able to produce high
quality games. This time there are no "It wasn't
the real Playmore staff that programmed it."

I absolutely agree, but I'm sure some will argue the case for SS1 being better

Don't get me wrong, I still have a LOT of fun with SS1, but if I play 2 player against some friends, SS2 is the one we always have on (even more so than SS3/4). SS1 I really play for nostalgias sake, as it's another Neo game I have a lot of good memories of.

SS2 does make SS1 obsolete, but I love to pop it in now and again to have a nice retrogaming experience. I'm halfway to having all 4, I'll get 3 soon, but 4 is gonna cost me an arm and a leg to get on home cart oh_no

Your saying that the old Pop'O'Matic Trouble boardgame looses all its gameplay when they reprint the board with flashier gfx?

It is all about the gameplay. Some Neo games have it, others dont.

These "old games" are games that I still play more than these "newer generation of games". Dont get me wrong, Devil May Cry is great for the 4 - 5 hours it lasted, but it does not compair to the hundreds of rounds of RB: Fatal Fury Special.

The dozens of hours wandering aroun in GTA3 when it came out, pales in comparison to the number of matches of heated competition in Puzzle Bobble.

The quick runthrough of Enter the Matrix dosent even come close the the chalange of running through KOM2.

This has nothing to do with $$$ either...

if games like 2002 or slug 4 are great for you
