I suppose it is... too me anyway. It's unlike 1 and 2. The graphics are better and it plays more like the Streets of Rage series on the Megadrive.

I just got it now for the same sort of price.... mine's jap tho... the artwork always seem to be better for some reason...

I'm actualy thinking of buying the game back. I love the game concidering it is prolly my favoirte beat'em up. It has a ton of combos you can do, awesome graphics, animation, and music. I had a lot of fun with it. So yes, I highly recomend it. Also it is the last SNK cart released, so it has some intrinsic value there and the English cart is the only pre-playmore cart to have a full color manual (complete with engrish). Its a lot of fun and to me, well worth the price of admission.

I played this yet again just the other day.

rotphungte is right, it is very different. Think of the difficulty level of Streets of Rage with the action of Final Fight + combos.

The game isn't hard, even on the hardest (and funnest setting). You will want to always try to find the most efficient way to kill everything, and to acheive the highest combo counts in the process.

The music is decent, some levels are better than others. Bosses can be fun, they can be annoying to.

Sengoku 1,2 have their own good points, for me its mostly their music and eccentricity (especially Sen 1).

Sengoku Legends was the first game I bought together with my Neo Geo after 8 years of absence from the Neo Geo.

Well before I got that game for way more than $150 on ebay.de, I read some reviews and got scared. Most reviews weren't positive about that game. But after I first plugged in the module I was very happy to own it. The opening sound is somewhat great in my opinion and the gameplay is much much better than at least Sengoku 2.

This game remembers me of my old fav Mutation Nation that I sold together with all my other games in 1994.

If you are into those Sidescrolling Beat'em-Ups than I can definitively recommend this game to you! I'm sure that you won't regret it...

I like the game. It is graphically pleasing with good solid gameplay. Ok it can get a little repetative.....but not any more than the other two sengoku games. My only pet hate about the game is that there isn't a massive amount of enemies! But does any side scroller have enough.......?

Its worth it if you got a partner to play with you, don't try playing alone as its quite boring killing the same enemies over and over again.

The combos style + Air combo hits is very well done and the background music is very good too.

Not sure why its call Sengoku 3?? I don't see any connection with Sengoku at all. spock
Its should be called Ninja combat 2 or 3 instead.
wink

Good man. You will like it. Yes it can get repetitive but thats why there's the memory card. If you get bored, just save and play another time. I mean what beatem'ups don't get boring after a half hour or so?

And I agree with Deffty, it should be called something totally different than Sengoku 3. Its nothing like 1 and 2.

Ninja Combat 2(or 3)... that would be way more appropriate.

If Buyrite says it's on the way, expect it by Columbus Day. I made a Neo order from there in June I believe, and it's August 19, and I still haven't seen it. blow_top

Before you buy the game, make sure you love some:

Crazy combos
Capcom´s CPS2-Side-scroller fighting games
Cheap ass boss

Then this is the game for you! buttrock

Aftrer hearing about Sengoku 3 prior to buying it, I knew that when I finally played it, to expect lots of flaws, the kind of game you just can't like because of bad mechanics/gameplay etc. Much like Ganryu.

However, I must say thats all BOLLOCKS!!

I was shocked when I saw how good it really was, and couldn't stop playing it for hours.

Sengoku 3 really is an awesomne game, hard to believe this sort of thing is only 3 years old, it takes you right back! It plays very fluidly, looks and feels similar to Final Fight 2, crossed with a bit of Ninja Masters! Solid gameplay, fluid controls, tons of moves, 6 characters, loads of levels. In my humble opinion i'd put it right up there with the top scrollers like punisher, final fight, cadillacs, etc.

This sort of thing is just what the Neo-Geo needs, something different to King of the metal slug and churned out fighters! loco

It is indeed what the Neo needs, and I also feel that the game was under some good scruteny back in the day. But perhaps the game has grown on some people?

Like a person, a new CD, job, car or a new videogame, sometimes things need time to just grow on you.

I especially like the music in the Japan level. A beautiful blend of rock and techno with a Japanese flavor.

I especially like the Brazil level in general. How the level opens up with a little 'chant' in the background.

The last level's music is great too, reminds me of something I'd hear in Diablo 1 for the PC.

When people say that the game is too short, they're full of it. the game isn't short, i'd say its a perfect length for an arcade game. Most people don't go to arcades to be standing at the exact same game for 3 hours. This game was longer than the first metal slug, and I'm not complaining aboutthat game. The only part that sucks is the final boss, who gives you very little opportunity to hit him, and when you do, it's limited, as he starts blocking and casting a spell that really sucks because it takes a long time, and you cant hit him when he does that.

Overall, I'd say the game is great tho. Both the English and Japanese inserts look really nice for this one.

The MVS cart is worth it, I don't think the homecart is worth the price.
