Wow is all I have to say. Kristoff and I were tipped off today that the Tilt arcade in Florence Kentucky got in SvC today so we went down and low and behold there it was in a soon to be converted Cannon Spike cab. There were only 3 buttons and the coin slot had a "out of order" tag over it. Being the curious buggers we are we removed the tag and put in our quarters and....IT WORKED! The buttons were not wired yet (1p side had LK and LP and 2p side had only LP), the monitor was not set right, and there was no sound...but what we got to experience was awesome!

Even with 1 button Demitiri completely kicks ass. Other characters played were Terry, Goeniz, Earthquake, Hugo, Zero, Kim, Evil Ken, Iori, Kasumi, Geese (a personal fave), Bison, and Vega. Again the controls were cripped by one button on one side and 2 on the other, but even with that...the game was way to much fun. The manager let us stay until he left for the night and put the SC2 machine on free play for us when other people were taking turns. It was an awesome experience. The guy said that he was having some people come in on Tuesday to finnish the conversion and it would be up and running perfectly on Wednesday.

I know a couple people are heading up there wednesday durring the day and I'll be up there friday night so if anybody wants to get together drop me a pm. Such an awesome day!

I just got back from Tilt and I'm sooooooooo charged!! :D . I just couldn't wait till Friday so I braved rush hour traffic and ventured across the river into them Kentucky hills to get my SvC fix :p .

I encountered the same problem of just two buttons on the 1P side. Some kid played against me on the 2P side and I saw he only had the one button like Yagamikun said. Apparently the guy Yagamikun mentioned that was coming in to fix that hadn't shown up yet. There was still "Out of Order" tape on 3 of the 4 coin slots but the far left one was not covered up.

When I walked up to it, some guy was using Guile and fighting against Chun Li. He got his butt kicked and walked away. I stood there and watched the intro to let it sink in :) . I put a quarter in and it said "Credit 01". I figured they would have put it on 50 cents per play but I hit start and I was in! WHOOOOOOOO 25 cents a play!

I whipped out the sheet that I had scribbled in haste with the hidden character codes. I went for Demitri first and got him. That's when I realized I only had the two buttons to work with but I was too busy soaking in the game to really care :p .

They had the sound effects and music working. I had thought that my comp was playing fuzzy audio on the vids that were posted a while back but the music/sound coming out of the speakers at the arcade sounded the same as the video on my comp.

I got the machine pretty much to myself the entire time I was there aside from that kid I mentioned above. I can't recall who he used but I beat him with Demitri.

I only spent about $2 on the machine (not much I know but it took two and a half hours to go through that $2). I tried for the life of me each time to select one of the hidden characters but was only able to get Demitri that first time. I wanted to have Marspeople on the screen so peeps would look at it and go "WTF!" loco

In failing to get the hidden characters, I ended up having to use Balrog twice, Genjuro twice, Chun Li, Ken, Ryu and I picked Terry on my last quarter :) . Even with just light kick and light punch I was able to get to the sub bosses a few times. Dan is the fucking MAN! I love how they gave him some new moves! :D

To be fair, there was plenty of collision detection issues and for the life of me I couldn't get a throw off to save my life. I noticed a few times playing against Dhalsim and Shiki where they'd teleport and I'd get a few free hits 'cuz the computer had them facing the wrong way.

The low number of stages was starting to get noticeable but not annoying. I LOVE the exchanges between all of the characters buttrock .

Enough rambling outta me though. All I know is come December when the home cart comes out, I am not hesitating to buy it and I know it's money well spent now. I'm REALLY looking forward to going back down on Friday so I can meet up with Yagamikun and Kristoff so they can kick my anus a few times on there.

Shit, better yet, you could have the "shindig" at Kristoff's place on the LCD projector.... :)

More room there as well. You could probably fit like 20 people if you cleared out a few things.

That's cool you found out. POS Arcade not even putting the game together right. This is the reason why lots of arcades go out of business. Jeez!

From what Kristoff told me, it actually sounds like they just got the game and are putting it together a little at a time. The only thing they have to do is wire a few buttons. It should be up in a couple days.

Okay,

Heads up Cincy people. I shit you not, last night me and a friend (NeoYanko on these boards?) went up to the Tilt arcade yesterday and found that they still only had a few buttons working and weren't familiar with the MVS boards, so they didn't understand why it didn't work in a generic Cannon Spike cab...

Sooooo... I grabbed my gear and spent the next three and a half hours rewiring the cab for them and got everything up and working perfectly. Unfortunately I didn't have time to calibrate the monitor as it's white and black levels are way off giving it a very washed out harsh tone to the picture. Hopefully I'll get a chance to help them with this soon.

Much thanks to the guys that run the arcade for letting me work on it... especially considering that I'd never met them personally before. They were all very cool and helpful with providing spare parts as I needed them.

My only gripe is that after all of that work, by the time I'd finished, there was a small crowd waiting to play and I seriously got maybe four matches in before they had to close. Dammit. And some bastard Chun-Li player was there who absolutely played the most annoying, weak, uncreative, suck the fun out of the game, bullshit... yeah.

Anyway, we'll be up there Friday night if anyone is interested in checking out the game.

Enjoy!

I'm sure I'll be over there quite a bit in the months to come in wait for the Home release, unfortuantly you're going to run into some VERY cheep players over there (like the Chun-Li guy Chris mentioned). It really was shit, I had to play cheep against that whole crew just to get a win...i felt dirty afterword! Totaly took all the fun out of the game. They didnt even wait for the pre fight quotes, which are hillarious! It was uber blasphemy.

Aye,

This is starting to become I problem lately. I love to play fighting games, it's in my blood damnit! But for the life of me, I can not stand to play against the usual crop of players that are seeming to hang out in arcades lately.

When I play a fighting game, I play to have fun with it. Sure it's competitive by nature, but it's getting out of hand lately. These kids that are playing are, as our circle calls them, "priority bitches". The basically find the highest priority moves and proceed to turtle and poke with them until they generally when by timeouts.

If you've never seen this, it looks like Chun-Li doing jumping weak kicks to ducking weak kicks and when I meter builds the combo from said weak kick into a safe super. It means that you can't try anything interesting or creative in the fight. In order to win, you need to do the same damn thing, maybe add in a throw or two.

It's a fucking chore, not fun! When I play as Geese, I want to stalk them. When I play as Terry, I rush. Goro, I'll walk through strikes to get my throws. I guess it's like fighting games with a touch role playing. I just find it much more fun to play a character to the style that the character was designed. I guess it all ties in with an appreciation for character and game design.

Both of which these kids lack. very_ang

Anyway, enough babbeling... I'll see you guys tomorrow! :)

I finally decided to take the long (2 hour) drive to go and play the game. Boy, was it worth it! I got there really really early. After totally demolishing some 7 year old kid at SVC, I had it all to myself for the next three hours! I got to fight nearly all the bosses, did Iori's double super, which looks awesome, many times. Finally, around one o'clock, Chris and his crew showed up and we had some really kick ass competition for another 4 hours. Fun was had by all! I wish that the game would show up around where I live. I will definitely pick up the MVS or PCB when it drops in price.

I wanted to add just one more thing: this is the first time in about 5 years I've spent more than $10 at an arcade...probably the last time was when I beat Final Fight and TMNT. What a great day!

Gah! Northgate??? I was just up there (Gamestop across the street) and didn't have time to check to see. Where is it? Last I was up there they had just converted the Tekken 4 machine into a CvS2 and put it right next to the MvC2 machine. Looks like I'll be going there after school tomorrow (damn college)...

But in other news, it's really glad to see that a crop of Neo fans are actually loving this game. I too spent $10+ dollars in an arcade for the first time in years. At one point the arcade operator [I assume] came up and asked if my friend and I liked the game---I made sure to let him know that I drove 20 miles JUST to play it. He seemed pleased, but then just wouldn't shut up about boring technical information while I was getting trounced by Shin Karate...

Anyways, just posting to say it's great news that a game like this still drags people out of their homes to the arcades...even if its a relatively small number of people.

Played it in Northgate today (got out of class early, ROCK!) for about an hour and a half. I must say that this game is awesome. I love almost everything about it, the speed (old school, no turbo junk), characters, moves, everything. Only complaint would be the backgrounds. I figured they'd be better in person but they are definately lacking.

A couple of guys watched me, one stated that it looked like it was on PS1 while the other was pretty quiet. They both seemed to think it was cool when I was pulling off specials and combos with Shiki and when I did Iori's exceed attack.

I played as: Ken, Ryu, Kyo, Iori, & Shiki. My favorite by far was Shiki, she's great in this game. I'm ranked 6th in it as of now (JEB), which I'm sure will be killed off soon. Only other gripes was that the joystick is very loose and it's kinda hard to pull some specials off with, and that Goenitz is a cheap punk. Otherwise I can't wait to get this in my candy cab, I'm almost ready to drop $950 on it...ALMOST.

Yeah, pretty cool game, isn't it? We were having trouble with the machine we were playing on, too. Within one play, I had blisters on my hand because the stick really sucked...too smooth. Oh, and, the ground wire for the C button on the player 2 side kept coming out. The cool part was the people that worked there let us put it in free play mode for the better part of four hours. Very nice of them.

Man, I feel so out of the loop. I really would like to meet some of you guys in person. I really want to get together and play the coin-op with fellow neo geo freaks. :) Anyone want to set up a date/time in the cincy area?, drop me a PM please! I didn't even know there was anyone else in this town that knew what a neo geo was.

After playing SVC, I can tell you that Dhalsim is a little bastard. His exceed move looks like it won't hit you, but, always ends up hitting you anyway...doing massive damage.

As far as getting together, I myself am not in the Cincy area very much, but, alot of the people you see posting in this thread go there about every day. Just try going after 3PM, or so, you should spot one or two of them.

Not to mention your 21 win streak with Iori today. So far, you are the only person I know who's mastered the second part of his Maiden Masher DM move. Most impressive. I was lucky enough to beat you in only 2 rounds...one with the Shin Shoryuken and one with Iori's Exceed...god, that move is awesome.

To everyone that has posted here: we SOOO need to set something up. It kicks so much ass when one or more of us get together. Schedules permitting of course.

Hey that sounds like some guys I know. Was the one who made that PS1 comment skinny with black hair and wearing a pair of glasses and maybe a hat. And the quiet guy was he skinny with short black hair and wearing a black hardcore shirt? Let me know.
