Serious question about Playmore AES carts

O.K. - so now since MS3 Playmore is in charge and promptly kicked our beloved SNK logo off the insert, manual and cart sticker.

But on the other hand they STILL use carts with "SNK Made in Japan" on the back and snaplocks with big S N K letters in them.

So what`s the deal? Why not write "Playmore (or Sun or Noise or whatever) Made in Japan" on the carts and boxes? Or give the SNK logo on manual/insert/sticker back?

Why this strange half-half decision? Or are Playmore just trying to deceive by hiding the SNK logo on the instantly viewable areas? Or have a busload of old carts + boxes still lying around that only need a sticker + chip swap?

... confused ... eye eye

Cost, plain and simple. I'm sure there were cart shells and cases left over when Playmore bought SNK up. So they just use those instead of having new ones manufactured. Inserts are digital format, it costs them nothing to alter those.

Edit: Oh, and I don't know this as fact. Just an educated guess.

Playmore owns SNK properties, the custom mold/die to create the cases. Having a pre-existing mold to use makes the cases less expensive to produce.
Playmore could have another mold created to remove the SNK logos but that would be thousands of dollars pissed away that could be utilized for something else.Playmore being associated with those three letters is a positive thing so recreating a mold to remove just the name would have them wasting money and losing popular name association.

I'd go with that.

Also, they're probably just using the same old printing molds for the cases instead of sparing the expenses for new ones.

I doubt it would be practical budget-wise.

As for the inserts/stickers/manuals, no idea about the decision there...

In fact those are newly factured cases and shells, not remaining stock.

The problem is making a new mold would cost huge amount of $$$ for something not that usefull. Not to mention making new molds would result in slight differences in cases whatever they do to try making the same.

the special tools for making the cases are very expensive. making new ones woudn't be worth it.

example :

edit : i'm too slow. :D
