Check out this review of the KOF 1995 from the review section.
This is perhaps one of the stupidest reviews I've ever seen. I'm not even sure what the hell game this person was playing. KOF 1995 is an amazing game all around as far as I am concerned. It improves so much on 1994. The team edit was a great addition to the game. The addition of Iori to the game was one of the best things ever done. Not to mention having Billy Kane and Eiji Kisaragi. Backgrounds in the game are beautiful, some of the best ever IMO. Control is great. As far as the difficulty goes, it does get harder as you progress, but it makes for a good challenge. The game is not impossible or anything to beat. Just with a little practice you can get up the final battles with Saisyu Kusanagi and Omega Rugal. He complains about how when you jump over a projectile the AI counters you...I noticed that, so instead I used the "AB" sidestep. Works wonders, especially against Omega Rugal. I find that KOF 1995 is the most underrated KOF game out there. The only drawback to the game is the issue of attack damage being a bit too much. But beyond that, it's one of the best fighters I have ever played. This reviewer doesn't have a clue about this game unfortunately.Do you want a game that looks great has a great engine and excellent tunes but annoys the hell out of you with its insane difficulty? Then King of Fighters 95 is the game for you. This part of the series is a confusing one indeed. Every aspect of the game is well put together except the AI. Usually when you get done playing a game something remains from the experience that stood out to you. Well the only thing that seems to stand out from this shoddy excuse of a fighter is the cheap AI.
It's not hard to make an impossible opponent in fighting games but then where would be the fun if you can't even get past half the opponents. Some of the characters moves were laughable and when the AI felt like it could just perform the same pattern repeatedly such as shooting a fireball at you. In this situation the only sensible thing to do would be to jump over the projectile but as soon as you do the opponent automatically performs some type of invincible move to hit you out of the air. Where the hell are your options? Get clobbered by projectiles or get hit out of the air while trying to avoid them. The problem is the computer does this over and over again. It's like rote memorization of a pattern not skill. The rest of the game however is fairly good. Nice graphics for the time but they should have been a little better considering they're not that far off from 94.
Overall this game could have been a fun and classic fighter instead it comes out as an insanely difficult piece of shit. (Die hard KOF fans need only apply)
Graphics 7/10
AI 1/10
Controls 7/10
Story 5/10 (Same as last year?)
Characters 8/10
Overall 56%
