...or "How far would you drive for a free candy cab?"
Now, before somebody goes off, I know technically it is not a candy cab. It's a Japanese sit down Jamma cab. But for the sake of the story and the fact that they are just about the same thing, you can work with me.
Anyway,
It all started with a simple post:
<a href="http://www.neo-geo.com/cgi-local/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=3&t=007875" target="_blank">Free Jamma Cabinet</a>
"Free" gets my attention every time.
I was suprised that I was the only one to respond, but there are not a huge amount of Neo Geo fans in the South, at least compared to the Northeast or CA. So, Nathan and I email back and forth and I get his home address. So let's see what we are talking about distance wise.
It's about 350ish miles one way. Hmmm... That's doable. So we set up for me to come get it on Saturday. I'm guessing I can be there by 11am (1 hr time difference). I feel bad about getting such a cool freebie, so I ask Nathan if there is any arcade stuff he needs. He mentions that he just got a new MVS cab and a pause button would be cool. Done and done. I prewire the pause button and pack up the truck.
Saturday morning:
Let's see... Cash, gas, phone, CDs, seems like I'm missing something.
There we go. *Remember boys & girls, on a long road trip it is important to stay properly caffinated*
Nice easy cruise to the East.
Sun at my back
progress...
Easing into Birmingham
Well, I found Mississippi. That is an encouraging sign.
