Probably because only a few hundred of a given cart is produced(With only the really big titles produced in bigger quantities). Doesn't really make sense to have 400 carts made, 100 of which being limited edition. IMO. 400 is pretty limited edition as it is. Stickers and stuff would be cool to include though.

And hike the price up even more for the LE version? The carts are already in limited quanities, how many would they make LE? I also wonder how much it really does cost for Playmore to produce one cart?

$325 launch price for regular version = eek! eek! eek! price for LE.

Don't get me wrong, i love LE editions, but for Neo Geo i think it's a little excessive.

They're pretty limited anyway, yknow?

Every Neo Geo release IS a Limited Edition by itself.

it's probably because the carts costs are high enough as it is even though the prices for computer chips are obviously not that high. I mean you can get 500 mb of ram for about 75 dollars. and neo's have 1000? and cost 300? think about it. I'm sticking with mvs

Its not RAM, they use ROMs which they flash the game on to, which is more money and faster. Its the kind of stuff they use in processor caches, which is more expensive then the RAM chips.

Memory Heirarchy:
Cache
Main Memory
Storage (Hard disk)
Secondary Storage (Floppy, CDs)

The higher up on the heirarchy, the more money it is.

plus it's not megabytes, it's megabits they're working with. ex: KOF 2000 is about 88.1 MB of ram. Not only that, but it's not RAM, it's ROM.

OLD, ARCHAIC ROM to be more specific.

Old, archaic, and most certainly CHEAP :D

All depends on production #s anyway.

Well, they don't flash anything, ROMs (MASK ROMs to be specific) are produced with data already inside them.
Wouldn't be called ROM otherwise.

And it's far from processor cache memory, only standard, slow memories here, nothing expensive...

A great idea would be a limited edition of a neo geo Jap or Us console with Samurai Spirits 5 or Metal Slug 5...

i do not see a use for limited editions since they are limited to 400 and just saying limited on the insert is pointless if you are goin to buy it anyway.now back to the pointlessnes look at how limited edition versions of say army of darkness there are on dvd can't think of the number but atleast 5 and that is alot of versions if anything playmore/snk need to sell some snap-lock cases/aes joysticks or even controllers than to release a limited edition version of say snk vs. capcom chaos.
