It looks kinda suspicious, but the side lettering looks to well done for a home job.

Is this a cab type anyone has ever seen before?

It's a dedicated 1 slot - just looks like they repainted it or something.

Is that control panel overlay part of an official conversion kit? I've seen that a number of times...

It's an offical SNK overlay for conversion cabs. I think it was the most recent overlay from SNK, because I saw on a couple of the SNK showcase cabs at arcade shows in 1999. :)

I saw that cab on Ebay too...The first thing that caught my eye was that the sides still had the lettering on them but the sides are white..
WTF..How..?
Did he put tape over the lettering and paint the sides white..?
This would be a real pain to do..I figure.

NotJigen: Mr. Tony sir.
NightmareTony: hi, and you are?
NotJigen: Daisuke Jigen
NotJigen: You probably don't know me, from Neo-Geo.com
NightmareTony: Neogeo.com then,.
NotJigen: I just wanted to ask you a question regarding SNK cabinets.
NightmareTony: go fer it. if I dont have an asnwer, at least I have an opinion :-)
NotJigen: Did SNK ever produce a white cabinet, with silver lettering?
NightmareTony: Yes.
NotJigen: they did...?NightmareTony: it was around the time of Samurai Shodown, a dedicated cabinet for it.
NotJigen: Awesome
NotJigen: I found one while browsing eBay, and thought it looked a little too good to be a conversion.
NightmareTony: The advertisement was funny as heck, if you ever seen the cabinet ad,m showing some employees, chad okada and jeff's kids all bowing before the cabinet.
NightmareTony: it was dedicated. Then for a while, we sold kits with the white control panel cover, but I dont recall the white graphics being sold in the kit, I only remember them as dedicated.
NotJigen: Ah, I've seen the SamSho III cab.
NotJigen: this is what I was referring to: Here
NightmareTony: yup, I remember the control panel overlay. The red marquee clashes with it, there was a dedicated samsho logo plex (partnum Samsholp) which was more in blue and looked a bit better.
NotJigen: I learn something new daily.
NightmareTony: yup :0
NotJigen: So the plain white cab with silver lettering can be listed as "official", and not a custom job?
NightmareTony: Yes. unless they decided to market the sidewalls seperately, but I dont recall it. But its official and not a third party thing.
NotJigen: sweet.
NotJigen: Thank you very much sir.
NightmareTony: none of this sir stuff, I am simply Tony.
NightmareTony: I embarass on that at times.
NotJigen: I call everyone sir. Just somethign I do.
NightmareTony: Ah.
NotJigen: I figure people respond to "sir better than "hey" or "yo".
NightmareTony: rotfl. True!
NotJigen: or even "hey yo"
NotJigen: Can I quote you on this? (about the cabinet)
NightmareTony: Yes. but do remember, I am not 100% certain about it not being a kit. I do recall the white sides mad eon it, the cabient is an original 3KOAM cabinet, so it was one of ours.
NotJigen: gotcha.

An official SNK cabinet!

very cool cab innovative if i bought this i would probly buy some plexi and customize the overlay since the red throws me off some with the white and silver but very cool indeed.

I still think you and Tony are talking about 2 different things.

The SamShoII cab was white, and they did make a conversion kit with it that had (mostly) white sideart, CPO, marquee, and bezel but it is different than the cab that is shown there.

Here is the dedicated SamShoII cab:

<img src="http://www.hardmvs.com/images/misc/SSII/SSII2.jpg" alt=" - " />
<img src="http://www.hardmvs.com/images/misc/SSII/SSII3.jpg" alt=" - " />

Here is the conversion kit sideart and CPO:

<img src="http://www.hardmvs.com/images/misc/SSII/SSsideart.jpg" alt=" - " />
<img src="http://www.hardmvs.com/images/misc/SSII/SScpo.jpg" alt=" - " />

I still say that is a regular red US cab that has been painted. I don't know where they got the graphics for the sides as they are different from the original US cab graphics - but it could even be a sign shop job.

So when I call Chad Okada "sir" everyone gets mad, but when Jigen does it to Nitemare Tony, no one cares..... wink

Anyway, that is a great looking cab. It's just so unique and it just looks f'kn good. I too wonder if it's a conversion...

It is definitely NOT a conversion. It is an original US MVS cab - that part I'm sure of.

That SamShoII cab is awesome, but lord that marquee hurts. Looks like the cover of a children's book titled 'Hoahmaru's First Christmas'.

I'd still kill to own one though. :o
