utilized in the development of games???
I mean this could somehow deter bootlegging and improve the product.
Playmore?? Why not utilize the RAM SLOT??

It may alienate the MVS market. Not all boards even support the Memory Card slot (like the MV1F and MC-1C). It may be a great idea as an optional feature, but there's no way this could work on a wide-scale release.

Some other factors would also prohibit this.

For example, playmore would have to manufacture these old, archaic cards with their old archaic cartridge counterparts. Not only that, but the neo geo cards were 2Kb large. they could maybe put a few megs of RAM on that thing for "cheap," or they could put a shitload of RAM on it for a lot, but neo carts are already goddamn expensive as it is.

Plus, i don't know how fast that PCMCIA slot really is, and how efficient it would be for it to be constantly writing to and reading from it.

There are many companies that still produce pcmcia S-ram cards. They usually range from 256k-6mb. This is not to say that it still wouldn't be a hastle for playmore due to the other factors, but the memory availablility is definitely there.

I know my Amiga A1200 and the A600's use to have PCMCIA ram cards available for them. I assume the slot on the Neo is a standard Type 1 style slot. I dunno if it would be practicle for usage as a ram expansion (considering how fast rom chips are), but maybe for a type of security card it might be. But, then again, it would only really be of use on the home system since most cabs that have the mem card slots have them on the outside and of course that isn't going to work.

Good idea though.

My opinion playmore should go for a sega 32X type of upgrade. Better processor power, better encryption, more ram, a transparency chip, etc.

If Playmore is sooo concerned about bootlegging they should think about utilizing the memory slot imo.

Eiher AES/MVS would look frankly ugly with any "upgrade" of that kind. The carts are too big for that. AESthetics speaking. wink tickled
