I have made up my mind to buy a Super Gun but I am torn between Raven Games and Arcade Heaven. Are they both the case of just plug in and play. Can I play all MVS carts. Can anyone tell me where I can get Streetfighter jamma boards for a decent price.

Many Thanks

If you're looking for a supergun to play MVS carts then drop Kernow a PM. Excellent service & it'll save you a few £'s too.

I also build super guns, but more in a cost effective kind of way,ie not with lots of unecessary features. I have owned so many different superguns and can sfley say that raven and arcade heaven are almost identical.

What ever you do, do not pay the outrageous price of almost 200 quid, cos thats just to much for a supergun as basic as that these days. They dont even have the scart connected to the speaker on the newer version, although the rgb adjusters are a nice touch. They claim some boards can damge the telly speaker, so they have installed one internally and the out put is abysmal.

I have had the datel supergun since 95, and never in all this time has my telly(S) experienced any probs.

Also, 70 pounds for a converted dreamcast stick is way to much. As an offer, I would do it for 15 pounds if you provide the stick. Remember, there is nothing major in a supergun, mostly apower pack and wires, and perhaps a cooling fan if they can be bothered.

The best way to go about it is learn yourself, try google and you will find all your jamma inquiries catered for. You may even be able to perform your own modifications after a while. For example, the D button isnt wired on the first raven super gun, and the credit button is located on the machine, not the joystick. I bet most of the super gun owners out there have taken care of small details like this.

Anyway, I love to listen when people are talking about stuff that im ignorant of (which becomes more and more everyday for some reason- HOW!?), and I also love to give advice or help about the things I do know about, so let me know if I can do or say anything to help you man.

oh yeah, you can get street fighter boards from R and M automatics on hanger lane. Telephone 0208 963 1229, but ask if theyre orignals. He has most of the hacked champion editions for 50 pounds each and will let you test them first.

Also, try edmonton machines over in southbury on 0208 3444777. Ask for Neil or colin, and tell the annoying secratary that answers that your a private buyer. Most companies only like to do business with other operators and distributors, but show them the cash and youll get their attention.

Good luck in your quest mate.

Yeah, just for the wire (2 meters) and the standard 15 pin connector as well as the casing for it. Of course you know dc sticks are simple to mod as it doesnt involve any circuit board work and usually takes half hour if that. I used to do them at CEX, and im sure you will agree that 70 for a converted stick is to much.

Do you not think thats a fair price dude?

I have just emailed www.uberia.co.uk. The minigun they have for £80 looks tempting. Befor I purchase it I hve asked them the following:

Hello

I have been recommended by Neo Geo.com.

I am interesting in purchasing your mini gun. Before I purchase it I just wanted to know a few things:

Is it a case of just plug and play (as long as I have a jamma/MVS board).

Is it safe to use on my scart TV.

I have a neo geo system so I would like to use the 4 button joystick on it. Can I just plug it in as I would do with the AES system. If I wanted to play games with 6 buttons what would I have to do.

Yes.

Yes, as long as you take some obvious precautions, like having the sound output low in the board.

Yes, you should be able to use a regular Neo stick for both MVS games and arcade games that require up to 3 or 4 buttons. For 6 buttons games you would need to use a suitable controller with 6 buttons unless you are happy lacking 2, a modded DC stick is recommended. Also you would need to attach a kick harness from the PCB board of the game to somewhere in the supergun, provided it supports it of course.

Thanks for all the info guys, its good to see people going out of there way to give a helping hand.

So if I want to aviod the following what should I request?

Based on the mini gun:

''Most JAMMA PCBs have amplified audio which may damage your TV if set too high. For this reason the video cable has the sound connected or disconnected depending on your request''.

If I disconnect the sound can I still hear it anywhere else? Does it have a manual switch to set the sound high/low?

Many Thanks

Personally, I have the sound outputted through the scart lead and I can listen it through my TV speakers with no probs. However, I prefer to have the sound redirected through a "scart thief" to my stereo system on all my consoles, so I have the volume in my TV set to the minimum when I'm playing.
You should ask Kernow, but I guess he means that you can have the sound wires going to somewhere else, like regular RCA jacks in order to plug the sound somewhere else, like a stereo system, or directly to some speakers.

Finally I purchased the mini supergun. Paul is a kind guy who has giving me full support. The main problem is that I still have my jap AES system with 7 games and memory card that I purchased 3 weeks ago and yes still hve not used it yet. Its just that I found out later that MVS carts are way cheaper, should have done my research first. So now I need to off load my AES system. Or I may keep it for a while.....
