... then again I am not even going to consider buying until it is down to about $150 so I am sure there will be more posts like this by then.-Nick
Nick, I'd like to quote you on your comment made way back in May'02, in a new thread.

Old thread can be found here:
<a href="http://www.neo-geo.com/cgi-local/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=001861" target="_blank">http://www.neo-geo.com/cgi-local/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=001861</a>

So guys, MS5 is on the horizon, 64 US and 7 JP, MS4 homecarts are still in the NeoStore (as of this date). While I'd like to see $150 used copies of MS4 (as quoted by Nruva's interest above) prancing around, its not happening, as perhaps predicted by others who were turned off of MS4 when they first played it.

Interesting. I was reading a ton of old posts to get an idea if MS4 is worth the money its sold for <used> now, knowing that I will own all the MS series someday, one way or another. There seemes to be more ranting and bad reviews for MS4 that I can count but not to discount the fans and hardcores out there who like the game either.

1.) Any of you guys care to comment on if you think MS4 homecart's price will change, drastically or minutely after MS5's release, simply because MS5 exists?

2.) If MS5 is as good as we want it to be, do you suppose MS4's value will sink?

3.) God forbid, if MS5 really sux, will all the other metal slug games' value change much?

Regards,

I think Nruva was refrencing the MVS price. He doesnt deal in Homocarts (I do).

I won't buy it regardless. The best Metal Slug is 1. They should have stopped there.

I think what causes all the bad reviews is graphics issues. Not only did they reuse backgrounds but (more importantly I think) they reused them in a very poor manner on Mission 2. A lot of people probably decided they hated it after mission 2. As an actual game, though, it's just as fun to play as any other Metal Slug. If you obsess over graphical issues a lot, don't get it. Hell, I wouldn't recommend any slug after 1 if you get that annoyed, but apparently people take the reusage of stuff in 4 a lot harder.

Dmhawkmoon-
I have a feeling that you and I may share a common POV with this. I play Metal Slug because I like the shooting, action, and blowing stuff up. As long as its not grossly obvious, and super common, I don't care if they reuse sprites and backgrounds. I'm in it for the action.

A friend of mine was over, playing MS3. He just got done playing MSX on emulation (bad) and reminded me how many times that MS3 rehashed gfx from MSX. The spherical spaceships, the hadoken prisioner, stuff like that.

I suppose it can't be avoided.

I was refering to the MVS price... guess I was a little off since this once still pulls in well over $150... wink Still, I am too surprised with the amount of MS4 bashing around here that it isn't a cheaper home cart...
