I was admiring my Kula Diamond resin the other day, and had a really cool idea. But I wanna know if it has been tried before.

The base for the Kula resin is a frosted Lucite, with many spires of lucite, emulating large ice stalagmites.

Would it work to drill a 1/4 deep hole in the bottom of the resin from the underside, and place a white LED inside? I think it would look super cool to be lit up like that. Any opinions from anyone are welcome, and expected.

Are you sure its not cold cast? (sorry if this sounds ridiculous)
I wouldnt do it, because you could crack the whole thing with a simple drill hole. Not worth the chance, those go for like 69....

I was strongly considering buying that model until I realized that I have run out of spending money. But yes, that wuld be a cool idea as long as the LED was well-hidden. However I have never seen a white LED. Maybe blue?

I/ve done stuff like that, I did a base that looked like ICE, it was made out of many strips of thick plexi, I stuck a white LED in the bottom, remember that white LED's are not completely white though, they have a hint of blue on them, also if you sand the LED down with fine sandpaper, it will make it less noticeable.

Oh, it shouldn't crack, if you do it carefully, try a dremmel.
