Do you mean 1 or 2? 1 is a very good & fun
shooter if you have a supergun or cab i say
go for it!! 2 is one of the best looking games
on the Neo but so unbelivably hard it takes all
the fun out of it. (Still, i want it from the depth of my soul)

All just my opinion of course.

I only got to play it for about 10 minutes or so, but what I played of it was awsome. I thought it was a great shooter. Awsome story on how I got to play it.

I was in Wisconsin to see Weezer one weekend not to long back. The whole way there I was coming down with an awful fever. By the time we had reached the concert I was sick as hell with 102 fever. I slept through the opening band, tried to rock out to Tenacious D but was put in my place by the damn fever (the second band) and passed out for Weezer. I was pretty pissed I missed Weezer, but more angry that I was going to die (at least that's how I felt). So I went to a gas station bought a box of Tylenol and took 6 of them. I passed out for about 2 hours, and when I woke up my fever was gone!!! Talk about things that suck!!! Why didn't that damn fever leave when 4 hours earlier. Point is I was even more pissed off at this point. It was time to eat, so we stoped at some gas station in this small hick town in the middle of Wisconsin. There it was in a Neo Geo 1 slot dedicated cab, Prehistoric Island 2!!! Of all the places to find this game.

Anyway, I hope no one actually read through that, it was meaningless bable, and I apologize now if you did.

Point of all of this, Buy Prehistoric Island 2!!!

I have had this game for months and I have hardly played it though that is the case with many of the games I have.
I was really looking forward to playing it because I really like dinos but in the end it was dissapointing. It is not awful but I was not blown away as I had been hoping especially considering the high meg count.

Well......*cracks fingers*

I had this kit and was so excited when I finally opened the mail box. I took it out and popped it into my MVS cab. I played it up to stage 5. Damn the background in stage 5 has like moving skies and everything...

Overall the Meg that makes up the game is from all the character animation and full motion video. Overall I would say this shooter is about a par shooter. I have/had almost every shooter for Neo Geo and Saturn....and this game.....for lack of better words.....left me limp......I expected more out of a game that was valued at $300 for the full MVS kit and a new release. Yumekobo did a much better job with Blazing Star than they did with PI2. If I could find a complete kit for like $100 I would buy it.Maybe like $150, but it isn't worth much more than that. There are much better shooters out there than PI2..........and I will leave it at that..........on a side-note......I really love Strikers 1945, Viewpoint, and Blazing Star.........I hate Last Resort......can never like that game........

Prehistoric Isle 2 is... decent. I had high hopes for it, but shooters need replay value for me... and there's not much because the game is SO easy. On my second time playing it in the arcade I reached the last boss on one credit. From there it was easy to figure out how to finish the game on one life even. The game's not that long either, 4 of the 6 stages are "regular" length, one is like half as long, and the last stage is nothing more than the last boss.

If you don't have Blazing Star, you're better off getting that, they're similar games but Blazing Star is a much more fun experience overall.

I played it a little and thought it was okay (I'm not a big shooter fan).

I know Nruva enjoys that game.

I don't like PI2 too much, it's average at best. It's pretty unbalanced, the oppontent formations are poor, later levels are to short (ie. not enough levels, as the last one is just a boss fight) - it gets boring pretty fast. The game is mainly eyecandy - the dinosaurs look great, nice animations, cool backgrounds - you can sense the programers love for detail. But that all seems to come at the cost of gameplay. I have the feeling that the guys at Yumekobo woke up one day saying "Oh shit, we already exceded the planed Meg-count, let's finish the game asap and toss it on the market". There probably just weren't enough Megs left to polish up the gameplay, the opponent formations, to make the last levels longer or to add another one. Doing that might have made the cart production unprofitable. Just a guess - but that's the feeling I had after playing the game -- sad. This game could have been so much more... (now how many times have I heard that before ;) )

I had a PI2 conversion for some time and I must say I really liked it. Imo it`s replay value is on par with that of Blazing Star although the bosses could use a little more spectacular presentation and attack pattern. You know I really enjoy that "fanfare sound" in Blazing Star to introduce the boss appearance. Nothing like that in PI2. There`s also only five levels in the game with a giant super boss finish level. Animation and backgrounds are among the best on the Neo concerning shooters.
The gameplay could use some more twists and sursprises though, pretty standard shooter stuff there. I`d grade PI2 at 7.5/10 overall. Not a game you absolutely MUST own but surely recommedable for the designated shooter fan. Don`t talk about the outrageous price Arcade is asking for their PI2 conversion though.

PH2 is OK. I played it through in an aracde about 2 years ago.

Graphics are reminiscent of KI/Ragnagard. It's fun, but gets kinda old.

The backgrounds, graphics, sounds are great, but it just gets old. And rescuing people becomes annoying... I just wound up forgetting about them to save frustration.

Not in the same league as Pulstar, by any means.

PI2 is a mediocre shooter at best. There are many many better shooters on the Saturn (which is in many people's opinions the BEST system for 2D shooters), such as Donpachi, Dodonpachi, Shienryu, Strikers 1945 I and II, Batsugun, Radiant Silvergun, etc.

Most Neo shooters don't equal those on the Saturn . . . but they aren't terrible either. Generally, I prefer Vertical shooters, played on a vertical screen (arcade cab or play the Saturn ones with your head tilted 90 degrees, ouch!).

As for PI2, its OK and thats about it. Nothing special . . . graphics were actually pretty bad in fact. Blazing Star certainly blows it away . . . :)
