Since you've shown me yours, I might as well show you mine.

No, not that! Put it away! Nasty.

Anyway, <a href="http://www.codebloat.com/junk/too_many_games.jpg" target="_blank">here's the one pic I snapped</a> before the batteries in my digital camera died.

Some would call that a mess. Or even worse, a sickness.

I call it love <img src="graemlins/tickled.gif" border="0" alt="[Tickled]" />

The TV is a Sony Wega. The picture quality is incredible for an analog set, but its flat screen makes geometry problems much more apparent than a standard rounded tube does. Still the best TV on the market right now IMHO.

You really can't beat them. They're the sharpest, most accurate NTSC set on the market today. I work for Panasonic, and I still bought a Wega. That should tell you something ;)

The biggest problem with them right now is inconsistent screen geometry. You might have to get a tech over once you get it in your house to correct any problems.

Oh, and off the subject, I won an auction for a hyper 64 setup from Jeff over at vectorlogic (I noticed you guys talking about him a bit...) and its been a week and he hasnt answered my emails. Does anyone out there know him personally?? Is he away??

Let me know.

Oh and dude...you gotta dress up those walls!!

Thanks

The whole selling point of the Wega is the promise of truly straight lines with no distortion thanks to the perfectly flat screen. The truth is that Wegas suffer from numerous problems, from poor geometry to inconsistent brightness across the screen. There's also the well-known "stock ticker" effect, where images that scroll across the screen appear to be moving over peaks and valleys.

The average user would probably never even notice these issues. For someone who actually cares about such things, they're easy to spot. I haven't been able to closely examine flat tube TVs from other manufacturers such as Toshiba and JVC, so I have no way of knowing if it's a problem that affects the technology in general or just poor quality control on Sony's part.

I have several vintage original movie posters (The Shining, American Werewolf in London, some others) getting framed at the moment for just that purpose.

It's the 32FS16 (year 2000 model). Overall I'm happy, but it's probably getting replaced under Best Buy's extended warranty due to the issues I discuss above. Hopefully Sony's newer models are a bit better.

Not for nothin...but some of the pics out there are all wrong!! They've got thousands worth of game stuff hooked up to junk AV components (TV, speakers, receiver). Its like those assholes that have an '88 beat up civic with $1000 rims on it.

People obviously have the cash to buy all the gaming stuff. Invest a little in a nice TV and a surround system then slowly build up the game stuff if funds are limited.
