I finnally finished all the work on them, so my collection is now presentable! I have my pics up here.

It's not much, but hey it's all home made baby! From the system to the inserts for the games, it's all MVS and I did it by hand. Well actually I have to give a big thank you to Dave White and Gabe from Big Bears Shock Box site. As I only slightly modified thier inserts for Blazing Star and Last Blade 2, respectively.

Anyway it's not much, but it proves you can have a semi good looking Neo Collection and not have to spend too much cash! Who says it has to be AES to look good? :D

Peace

kickass mvs boxes and inserts...

by the way, I would love to build a self cotained supergun.. using a 1 slot with the memcard slot and joystick ports.. but am I right in saying that the RGB convertor is the only thing you need to build?

on the picture it says "the guts of the gun"

is that right? I can get the PC psu as I am a I.T technician and scrap PC's all the time..

thanks...

Yeah I used a PC powersupply. All you need is +5V and Ground to power the thing, you don't need the +12V or the -5V, even though there are pins hooked up on the connectors for them.

I'm contemplating redoing the supergun this summer to make it smaller. And if you'd like a word of advice, don't use a PC PSU. It's easy as hell, but it takes up a LOT of space. I'm contemplating just using a out side PSU that just delivers the +5V and ground.

The other thing you have to "build" is the ports for the joysticks and the joysticks themselves. I made sure that my ports are wired just like the AES so I can use standard Neo controllers on my front ports if I wanted to. Plus you can customize it. Since the MVS doesn't use a "select" button like the AES does, I wired up the select pin to coin input, which is very nice :) .

Plus you have to build the joysticks yourself as well (unless you want to pay out the ass for AES sticks). I am also considering making my sticks smaller, but I still reccommend www.happcontrols.com and getting the Ultimate Joystick and Ultimate pushbuttons. Although this is a preference, I prefer a smaller joystick that doesn't stick out that high, But some people prefer the "Ball" type joystick that's on the AES and japanese arcade machiens.

And yes, then there's the fun of the RGB converter.....I'm not even starting on that in here. I'm going to have a page on it sometime. I hope... ;)

Peace

Looks like a real pro setup man.
Do you plan on painting it?

Not really, I'm not much of an artist. i want to keep it as simple as possible. I plan on redoing it to get both they system and the controllers a whole lot smaller. But I like it as just the plain wood as is. I was thinking about stickers, but like I said I'll probably redo it sometime in the future.

Peace
