I know someone from this forum must have this problem. You get a new game, and all your friends think it's great. Then you practice, read move guides and combo-lists until you're unbeatable. Then no one wants to be your punching bag!

So, as I just finished beating the interest out of the last person that would play Last Blade 2 with me, what do you guys do in this situation? I want to keep playing and improving, but no one here will play with me and the computer is borring and predictable after a while.

I've had that trouble a few times...and I hate letting them win, just so I don't have to play by myself. heheh. But when I'm up against a challenge, like my husband for example...It's all good fun. hehe!

I have 0, count that 0 gaming friends.

All of my friends are the biggest bunch of casual gamers you will ever see, none of them even know how to play 2-D fighters, let alone want to.

Same here. Buncha PS2 loving scrubs! Can't wait for the next Tomb Raider or whatever! Damn. (Actually, I like my PS2, but you get the idea.)

Shit,I've been playing alone all my life. No one I know likes the Neo.
When I played a quick stint in Latin America there was Neo everywhere! It was awsome.

I've had a few friends who would play 2-D fighters with me, but the fact that I OWN the arcade machines gives me a lot more practice and eventually they all lose interest.

also, none of them want to really get better. I'm the only person I know who starts a fighter and downloads all the info, practices all the combo's and tries to really see how the game SHOULD be played. That's why I'm always so interested in tournaments. It's not that I think I'll win, it'd just be great to have some people that know how to play to fight against.

It's so amazing to see people like you. It takes a great deal of time and skill to master such an obsticle. I'm proud of you! You guys keep on working on your skills, there should be a show down between all of the top gamers...I wonder who would win? ;)

I'm in the same boat. A few of my friends are casual gamers, but that's about it. I have fun playing 1st person shooters online, but I really enjoy playing against real people in fighting games, etc. When I was at Otakon this year I could have spent the entire weekend just sitting in the game room playing and watching people (come to think of it I just about did).

I'll admit I'm not that great at fighters but I'm always willing to play anyone that's interested in just about any game. If anyone is in the Washington D.C./Baltimore area I'd like to have a few matches sometime.

Let them beat my ass at Halo.

Then resume kicking their asses.

My Cousin is a sore loser. He thinks he's the Family DOA Champion even though I constantly beat him.

KOF he can't touch me he never wants to play KOF.

Street Fighter he cheats to win. (traps me in a corner and uses the same kick over and over again)

are there any challenges left in the world?

I know the feeling.

Before I moved, my one close friend in Connecticut only liked to play video games once in a while, and when he did play a fighter he only wanted to play against the computer! :(

Since moving to Pennsylvania, things have gotten a bit better as my fiance doesn't mind playing against me on occasion, but even at the Neo get together we had the other week, only NeoZ24 liked to play the one-on-one fighters; Bill doesn't really like them at all.

So, for the most part, my favorite genre of game I can't find anyone to play against. Which means I don't have any way to judge my own skill level, as fighting against the computer is nothing like going against a live opponent.

Ahh... how I miss the days when both arcades and the Neo were still popular - some of my best memories come from going against other players in Samurai Shodown, World Heroes 2, Art of Fighting...

Practice mode: custom combos and, if you really have some precous time to waste: trying to find bugs

Or, going to the amusement hall and playing a few vs games with strangers.

Like, it's the same thing in my city. There is only a handful of King of Fighters players, even less Last Blade 1&2 players. And don't even try to mention Samurai Shodown: nobody wants to play it over here.

All they want to play is that stupid shite game CvS on the Dreamcast or Guilty Gear -with those insufferable 999hits air combos- or SoulCalibur -a brilliant game but so boring...-

I guess I've been blessed by the gaming gods to have found a camp of hardcore 2d fighter fans about 4 years ago. My girlfriend moved into a condo with a bunch of guys when we had first started dating and it turned out that the other two guys in that house were huge Neo fans as well as the 3 guys who lived right next door! And to top it off all of their friends are hardcore players as well! All I have to do now is drive 15 minutes to get a good challenge.

Oh man, I'd play you any time. Too bad we're on the other side of the country. I've only had a few opportunities to play that game. But I liked it!

And m_bishop do youreally live in another state? well if we can ever get together I'd be more than happy to. The only problem is I won't be traveling out of ca anytime soon. It's senior year in hs so I got to worry abit and think about collage, maybe we'll meet in tokyo?

I just got out of college, so what you're about to go through is still fresh in mind. Just chill, go to classes, do your homework. Now that I have my degree I might move to CA, if things here don't pan out. So, maybe I'll be around in another year or two. :-)

My friends and I play just about everything.

Except Neo

None of them would know a good 2D fighter if it sucked their dicks. And believe me, they need it more than I do.

Bunch of sorry ass jaded losers.

Well, last I heard we were still talking about having another get-together at my house around the end of October sometime, so we could always hook up then.

Hell though, anytime you've got some free time coming up just let me know ahead of time and we can try to make plans to meet at one of our places!

I have a bunch of friends who play loads of videogames, on the PC - ONLY!
Most of them refuse to touch any kind of games console, even the person who introduced me to SNK games in the first place has now 'moved on' to playing FPS and RTS games on his PC.

The one person who would play KoF with me is now off to Japan for 10 months. He was a really good challenge, actually he was better than me despite not owning his own NeoGeo (hangs head in shame).

I find that, generally, my friends prefer to play cooperative games. Less bitterness and depression that way, and no one ends up quitting because they keep getting beat.
