I dig fighting games...

MOTW is sweet...

But I LOVE the MS series...

I'm gonna get Slug 4 AES or ROTD MVS...

If you had the loot what would you get?

Would be easier to say if ROTD were out right now, but you really can't go wrong with MS4. I don't think it's nearly as bad as people make it up to be, it may not be MS2 or MSX but it's still a good slug game.

I agree 100% with Cole. Having not played ROTD I can't really judge, but MS4 is a great game in its own right. Maybe not up to MSX and MS3 in some ways, but still a great game. Worth every penny . . . :)

Be honest man, how good is Slug 4?

Is it what you wished for after beating Slug 3?

It's like a dog chasing it's tail..

Get them both. You'll feel better.

Plus you can always sell the one you don't like.

i have played both.
and IMO MS4 is not all that great.
the first time i plaed it i was all "hey this is good"
then the next few times i played it, it bored the hell outta me and i left the machine.
ROTD is sweet, super sweet!
IMO, i would go with ROTD, but that is just me, you might have a differant taste.

MS4 isn't worth the price of admission on home cart. Buy it when it drops to below $200 if you must, or just get hte MVS. It's really a waste of space though. An insult to the metal slug series every time I play it.

Sometimes I wonder if they even play tested it.

Tonk, I am one of the biggest slug fans going (my pavorites are 1 and 2). slug 4 is %100 fun and worth the price of admission. many parts are some what "cut and paste" but if that does not bother you give it a shot. ROTD I have not played yet.

even if I like MS4, don't forget that 'our' SNK is dead. golden age is over, but as chimp said once - it's already great to have games at this moment for a 12 years old system... but that's out of topic.

TonK want to choose between MS4 & Rage... I would go for MS4, no doubt, but that's because I'm not very good at fightings. the best is to go at your local ardcade and make the decision alone...

Get both in order to be able to sample both games. Buy now, play now, so that you don't have to regret later.

I've played both to death and frankly I'd say go and get Guilty Gear XX on the PS2. You should be able to afford it with the dough you need to spring for a home cart now. I initially praised ROTD quite a bit, but the gameplay gets dull quite quickly with only so many combos you can do. This game can be classed as an 'old-school' fighter where the combos can actually be catalogued. Unlike KOF2K1 where your imagination is the key to combo-godhood.

Anywayz, the lesser of two evils is ROTD.

I'm going with ROTD i was trying to decide between the same two games and it all came down to this what would i play more,Rotd give slightly more play ability, especially when i have friends over, ms4 once you beat it its done you might go threw it a few mor times but with rage of the dragons there is always the posability of new challengers

I'd say Metal Slug 4. I know people think it's not as good as the others in the series, but it's still better than a lot of games out there IMO, including ROTD. From the people I've talked to here I don't think I'm even interested in buying ROTD anymore.

I don't usually play neo with anyone else and so I would purchase Slug 4 before ROTD

Even though it's a Slug, its the worst Slug, a total rehash VS. an ENTIRELY NEW EXPERIENCE.

Even though I'm not the biggest ROTD fan, I'd still consider buying it once it gets cheap.

Rage Of The Dragons in a heartbeat.

Personally I would get RotD first, it is a sweet tag fighter and is a lot of fun to play :)

For me there is no question at all. Metal Slug 4. It has a lot of excellent new things while retaining the same classic gameplay. Only problems are that the new characters suck and there are more reused backgrounds and such than in previous installments, but the music and level designs are totally new. Turning into a monkey is the shit...

RoTD may be great, but the Neo has tons and tons of fighting games, and even though I want the game, I definitely choose a new action game over a new fighting game.

MS4

I have seen and played alittle of ROTD. People complain about MS4 being a rehash of MS1-3, well ROTD is a rehash of virtually every SNK fighter there is (in terms of character design, moves, etc etc etc).

And it is not even that great. It strikes me as a slow fighter with some pretty ugly/non-charismatic characters. Just my opinion, yours may vary :)
