What is the cheapest Supergun I can attain to play MVS games and only MVS games? Quality is no big deal just wanted to know my low end option since I already know my high end options. I would also like to make a point that I refuse to get a Phantom 1 for my Aes. The only reason I have not got a phantom 1 is because no one know the long term effects it can have on an AES and on the MVS games. Lets just say that 2 years from now some of MVS carts dont work from the friction caused caused by revmoving carts from the converter. The damn thing is way to tight on the MVS carts. Scenario 2 is wasting the slots on your AEs system and having to repair it at !ARCADE!. What if in 4 years !ARCADE! does not offer slot replacements. You would be screwed. I take the safe route. AES games still work on the AES after 12 years or so. Just want to be safe in the long run.

Well, you could get an MVS SuperNova, they're only about $300, and as long as you have a good TV, they're pretty damn good. I think your fears about the Phantom-1 are a bit paranoid though. With the new revs of the Phantom-1, most of its problems have been taken care of. I even built a plastic case for mine so that it lines up in the slot perfectly, and as far as the tightness of the connectors, my MVS 1-slot is just as tight, and it does loosen up over time.

Cheapest Supergun is a Super Jamma harness,1084 Commodore or Sony or Magnavox RGB Commercial Monitor,A power supply, two detachable speakers from your boom box and an MVS board with Joy Ports...oh yeah and a Fuse/fuse holder!!
That would be your cheapest Super Nova..aka a JAMMA Test Rig

Hey BB do you have a product number and a name of a nationally known retailer to purchase one of the monitors you mentioned? Maybe a price too. Also, you wouldnt happen to know where I could get a wiring diagram and parts list for adapting the monitor into the jamma settup?

Thanks

I get the Monitors of eBay or @ Flea Markets..@ Flea Markets you can usually find a great deal.

Well on the Jamma Harness, you just use the wires designated for the monitor which are Red,Gree,Blue,HSYNC(grey) and Ground(black)
Goto the Hardware Book or goto any search engine and type in commodore 1084 pinout and it should pop up...Magnavox RGB monitors work as well..
I will PM you later with a FAQ..don't have access to it right now..

Thanks BB! Just to be clear, we're talking about a PC rgb monitor right? Like these here:

<a href="http://www.magnavox.com/global/b2c/ce/catalog/category.jhtml?divId=0&groupId=CONNECTIONS&catId=PCMONITORS" target="_blank">http://www.magnavox.com/global/b2c/ce/catalog/category.jhtml?divId=0&groupId=CONNECTIONS&catId=PCMONITORS</a>

Does it matter the resolution? Also which one would work best: standard, business, or professional?
Again, Thanks! :D

The RGB monitors should be Analog..These monitors were produced in the 80's and are still going strong today. No VGA,multisync monitors will work,CGA monitors WILL NOT WORK,EGA Monitors WILL WORK but they must have the necessary connecters, usually BNC.
Here is a link to the 1084S pinout
<a href="http://www.hardwarebook.net/connector/av/c1084a.html" target="_blank">1084 pinout</a>
The Sony Professional Monitors you see on ebay Work.. I've owned sevreal 19" models in the past..
SONY RGB..No Pc Style monitors(the ones with the stand underneath are a NO GO)

Yes,those monitors give off the highest quality possible..The price is abit much though..
I used to own one of these:

<a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1379485292" target="_blank">PVM 1910</a>

That one above has the video and sync BNC OUT connections..The tuner is built in but I believe you may add an external source.
The best place to ind these type of monitors are locally as shipping can be quite abit depending on your distance from the transaction.
Try your local Flea Markets..I was able to pick up a 13" old Sony RGB for like $7 that gives me the best quality picture I've come across..
I took a chance and won..

Oh yeah.. Apple and Tandy Monitors won't work..
Commodore,Magnavox and Sony WORK.
