Member ranking titles?

Since it appears that the member rankings are gone, would I be correct in assuming that Shawn or someone is going to have to manually re-insert the member ranking titles? If this is true, does anybody think it would be a good thing if Shawn ditched the stupidass ranking titles left over from the Orochinagi days?

Some of those were so fucking stupid...

If you still have 'em and it's just a matter of popping some file in, then I guess it's not a big deal... If you are going to have to manually re-insert them anyway, I think this would be a golden opportunity to replace them with titles that actually make sense, or at the very least characters that exist...

What do people think?

if you ditch post counts 2 things will happen:

spam will no longer be an issue (people only complained about the spam->post count connection)

some spammers will just leave or not be as interested.

the titles are linked to post counts, but really, they don't have to be. They could be assigned by mods.

I think there are too much titles. I'd say do a new title when reaching 100 posts, not 50 or so. That will make more better titles (since there won't be so much to make up) But I think most of them are fun. Can't we be given the full list so we can all see which we like and which we don't? :D

How about making the titles the different home carts out there? For example, as a newbie with less than 100 posts, you would be League Bowling (the smallest cart I have at 26 Megs).

Just a thought...

now thats funny. That would be a good idea, but I think it should be a mix with made up titles aswell. ''Chois Bartender'',''Vice's love slave'' pretty funny titles :)

I found the titles funny but it's true that if it makes too much work for shawn,stop it!
But I think that the fact that there are ranking between the members is a good thing!

I would prefer it the other way around, leave the titles, but get rid of the stars/post counts.

Lots of stars/high post counts IMO only have two meanings: Either an active member who signed on long ago (which also can be seen on the registered-date), or a 1500+ member with tendencies towards war room spamming (no puns intended).

So, IMO the stars/post count thing is redundand and should go.

If Shawn can reinstate the board as it was without any probs I say - why fix something that ain't broke?

Keep it as it is. :D

BTW - where are all the gremlins? Some are missing... plus we definitley need more gremlins...
