Okay, I've been playing Matrimelee on and off all day today and have noticed some things about the game:

I have yet to play against White Buffalo (and Mr. Jones, but more on him below) for whatever reason, and fought a CPU Chinnen ONCE, as my first match using Keith.

As both of them have their own locker room stages where you fight a RoTD character in their place, I figured there must be some special condition to fight them, but then Chinnen finally showed up once(he has his own stage BTW; odd that it never seems to show up very often), plus I fight against Anny(third locker room stage with Elias) fairly often.

So I was messing around with the settings, and put the game in MVS mode, with the Euro-Asia region, and played 2P. Jones appears to have no stage of his own; I'm against Ume and it's her stage. But the music is different. I figure it's Jones' theme. I go to 1P mode after beating the 2P Ume, and Reiji is my opponent. Only it's not his stage; it's the lounge stage, and in the background, the singers aren't singing; they're in their fighting animation for the whole match! I turn the sound up and a BGM plays I've never heard before!

Turns out every stage with vocals now has been replaced with a more generic soundtrack, and ONLY in Euro-Asia mode(from the dip switch settings). The quality isn't as good as the normal BGM selection, but it's interesting nonetheless. I guess Noise wanted to remove the Japanese songs for European arcades, but there's no English text in arcade mode! :p

BTW, I heard that the game originally had air combos, but I'm not seeing anything. Were they removed, or just never there to begin with? Down and CD does act like a launcher, but you can't follow it up with anything.

Oh, and what;s the code to play as Sissy?

I would also like to know the code to play as Sissy. She’s super cheap. :)

Shawn, I didn't think Johann from RoTD could be beat, but it looks like Noise Factory did it with Sissy. :p I've been able to beat her ONCE so far, and that only was with the supers turned to max, using Saizo, and just jumping up and doing his bomb super over and over.

BTW, the code for Sissy is in the back of the manual, but I can't really translate the Japanese that easily at this point. Just the basics for me. ^_^;

Actually once you figure out her attack pattern, she's cake.

I told beelzebubble how to beat her, and once I get home I'll send you a mini-FAQ I wrote on how to do it as well.

I agree.
I was able to beat her with no problem after having mastered how to cheat her, since she always uses same attack patterns.

When supers are maxed I've found that Olof's special works best. His super punch is unblockable and takes nearly half a bar of life.

Lee, maybe you should have gone for the English version in this case. Regardless, either version you can't go wrong. Here is the scan of Sissy's page from the English Matrimelee manual (thanks for pointing this out):

Heh, the code for Sissy is the same as Johann's for Rage of the Dragons. Who would've thunk it. :)

This game is better than ROTD. If you thought it was a 6.5, you'd think this is an 8.

I have a question about the BGM.

Where the hell are the vocal tracks on the game and on what stages? I heard there was suppose to be a lot of singing and it says so on the back of the insert but there is none. I have an English AES with an English Matrimelee homecart. Also my system is not modded.

I also have the Official Soundtrack which makes it even worse that there is no vocal tracks in the game because the music is so good.

Sounds like you have to boot in Japanese then use the options menu to get English text and the good music. And you thought that unmodded Neos were rare before...

You must have either a modded system or a Japanese system to do that.

Edit: Out of curiosity, though, try changing the language in the Options menu and see if that does anything. Maybe it's like Samurai 2 blood or something.

Edit2: I really like that idea, given the heavy Samurai 2 influence it's something they would do. Try changing language to Japanese, then exit Options, then change the language back to English, then exit Options. That will probably give you the English texts and good music.

Or just have a Japanese or Debug BIOS chip installed in the system, either way.

So I would have to buy a debug bios chip?

Is it easy to enstall if I have no soldering experience?

Please read my last post before buying a debug BIOS, I have a feeling that the Samurai 2 trick will work here.

Edit: Nope, need soldering experience, I bought mine modded.

I tried switching th languages but it didn't work.

On Japanese language- Jp text & Eng. music

English language- Eng. text and music.

Thanks for the idea though. :)

On a side note why would Noise Factory/Playmore even do this. You would think that they would want the game to be shown at the highest quality possible.

To play as Princess Sissy go to the character select screen, pick any character then hold down ABCD together.

I got the game yesterday, and I have a modded US system. I was wondering myself where the vocals were in the bgm. I even tried reinserting my cart a couple times to see if it was in properly. I went to the debug menu and switched one of the options from "others" to "US". I then selected reset, and a different Playmore logo appeared. Now, all of the singing is there. I was starting to get pretty worried but everything is all good now. :)
