I was just wondering if anyone else here really REALLY REALLY loves SF3:3rd Strike. Mechanically I think it's a really fun game and a nice break from the Alpha series of KOF. But what really amazes me is the ANIMATION!! Why didn't this game raise the bar for all future 2D fighters? The only neo game that I have seen which even begins to approach this(but it comes nowhere close, and I've also not seen too many neo games) is waku waku 7. Unfortunately I own this and while it's fun, I don't like it quite as much.

Ultimately my question is, why don't more 2D fighters look as good as SF3, and why didn't capcom, with all its market clout either a) force everyone to use the CPS3 hardware or b) given the CPS3 hardware is a pain in the ass (mine died on me) fix it?

Does anyone know the CPS3 system specs?

See I posted this kind of thing lots of times, and I'll tell you the results: you'll just get flamed to hell.

They're making games for the Neo still, lord knows when they're going to move on. When they do it will probably be a very good thing, till then you either are going to play what they put on the Neo or you're not.

SvC Chaos is out now and while it's not SF3 graphically, it still looks god damned good. Oh and it plays like a fucking gem too, so I really can't complain much. :D

Is MotW comparably nice? I'm not a graphics tart, I swear. But once you've had SF3, it's hard to go back...

By the way Butta, nice site, but man you need more Jennifer Garner pics. Waaaaay more.

Nono I don't want to get flamed, I LIKE KOF98(the only one I own) but this is more a capcom related question, i.e. why did capcom just let this system die.

Honestly? I think it's because it requires a LOT of effort on Capcom's part (or any other company) to do that kind of artwork. Unless you KNOW you are making a masterpiece, you probably aren't going to bother.

I'm not trying to bash Capcom or anyone else here, but that's honestly what I think it is. It's just much easier to create another Alpha game or CvS and recycle old sprites than it is to redraw them completely and have such high animation.

If ya like those type of 2D fighters, you can go no wrong with Garou: Mark of the Wolves or Real Bout 2 or Special.
