I was not sure what area to post this in, but this seemed like a good choice.
What with the popularity of boxed sets, collections, etc., of various games, I have been pondering how I would design a box set for my favourite SNK game series, if I were to buy the rights of that series.
Limit your selection to three series.
My first choice would be Metal Slug. A box collection of any series would be cost-prohibitive if it were in cartridge format, so I would make it for a next-gen console like DreamCast. I would include all four Metal Slug games, each on their own disc, even though they could probably be compiled onto a couple. Their individual CD cases would be metal exterior, with faux riveting around the edge, and a raised logo stamped onto the metal. They would be packed inside a larger metal box with velvet lining, again with faux riveting on the exterior. I would have that one logo "The Metal Slug Project" on the outside, and a padlock. Another option would be to make the box look like a military footlocker. Extras included could be soundtracks, plus folders containing scripted mission briefings for the games. Possibly a mail-away coupon for a model Metal Slug tank.
Next on my list would be Samurai ShoDown. The box would be cast hydrastone, in the form of that stone that ruptures after you beat Amakusa the first time in the original Samurai ShoDown. The inscriptions would also be included. I would include not only Samurai ShoDown I though IV, but also the SS: RPG and the Hyper 64 games as well, all on their own DC disc, if plausible. Also included would be a scroll, detailing the plot line for the whole series from beginning to now. Soundtracks for this set would also be nice, but a mail-away for a giant wall-scroll showing every character ever to appear in the series would be higher on my list, as I can get the OST's elsewhere.
I am still fleshing out my ideas, and have not yet decided what my third series choice will be, although there is a good chance it will be KOF. I am still working on my idea for that one.
