...the first mascot for Fan Scene. She will appear around the site when it makes a comeback, but here's a sneak peak at two pics I've finished of her for the time being.

So far she has no name, but that's not to say she won't get one sometime later. I hope you folks like her, and as always, comments, whether they're good or bad, and constructive criticisms are always appreciated.

i got a few things to say.
you obviously got skills.
the texturing, coloring and lighting is great. BUT I just didn't like the face of the character. Perhaps its just the way its drawn? The eyes look weird and the hair is a bit cliched.. also, the nose looks too plasticish.
Dont get me wrong, the rest of the pic looks good. I like the way you done the second pic too.
Hope you dont take any offence from what I say, cos I know that my Photoshop skill is nowhere near your level.

cool pic, they only prob I see is that way the jacket and the coat relate. Its kind of apparent that the jacket is a separate layer. As if you just paste the jacket on.

I dont know, I'm not that good with photoshop.

Thanks for the kind words everybody! I was hoping my post didn't sound like I was fishing for compliments or anything. And thanks for the constructive criticisms too. No offense was taken to any of it.

You know what Martial Loh, you're not the first person to call me on character faces. The problems I have in drawing faces is 1)I've been way too influenced by anime (not that anime is a negative thing, but in terms of striving for realism and/or believability, it can sometimes be a set-back) and 2) I haven't done enough home work in the life drawing department. Instead of drawing portraits of people back in high school, I was too busy drawing comic books and reveling in cartoonish effects when I should've been studying anatomy. I know one time, me and the writer I was working with on a comic project got rejected by NBM purely on my art (and not to be bragging but most of the publishers rejected the project on the story alone), and they specifically said character faces. They didn't say where or why, so thanks for pointing out the aspects that you had a problem with. This should help me in determining what to work on improving.

And yeah, Black Hayato, I still need to work on my use of filters. Maybe a more subtle texture would've worked a lot better. Hopefully, I'll overcome that on my new drawing I'm working on.

Thanks again everybody for taking the time to look at this stuff and sound off about it. Much appreciated!
