Why do people get so mad about, when they lose?

Last Friday, I beat this guy, he slammed the game, he complained to his friend that he is supposed to be able beat anybody. I told him, that it was a good game, cause it was, down to wire.
He told me afterwards, why the hell do you have got to pick that guy to beat me with him for. Simply cause I've never picked him before, and played in the way I was taught to play. I got lucky and beat his character. I won a few matches, then I lost to guy who was better than I was. I got around to challenging this guy again, then I picked different characters again, and I again got lucky and beat him. He was so furious, that he told someone that I was cheating. After I made it through another round of games, I managed to survive til his turn came up again. He then told me that, i was going down, I responded by saying fine, that's okay, if I lose, I lose, simple as that. He told me to play my best since he wasn't going to hold back, I didn't take him too seriously though, since I was there to play a game , that I haven't played for a while. He was about to lose then said something under his breath, the guy who was next told me , that it was something really bad, I was on the verge of beating him, but then I forfeited the game{stood there and let him kill my two guys}. The guy who was next told everyone, to let me play him again, with my best team. I beat him really bad, then he slammed the game harder then he did the first time. He even tried to do those old street fighter 2 techniques, short and throw, all the way.
How can people have fun, trying something new, or playing a game for old time's sake, when people who challenge are going to hit the game and cuss, when they lose. The sad thing is in CvS I suck, and admit that openly, but I don't go around damaging the game just because I lose to someone who isn't a expert or something.

man,i really hate people who get pissed when they lose.its really screwed up and i have experienced that problem before.although not as bad as yours but still a bad experience.a game is meant to be enjoyed and not for getting pissed at someone who beat u.its juz a game. And those people who lose and get pissed are SCRUBS and SORE LOSERS who suck at the game.they are the ones responsible for the busted arcade joypads and buttons.they are juz so patetic and they would never ever be able to master a game like that.they juz suck at the game.anyway the only way to beat morons like these are to keep trashing them and if they get angry,u should get even angrier and vent yer frustrstions by beating that person on the game.remember that an angry person can't think clearly and he would lose to a cool headed person.noticed that i said u should get angrier-well it means to be cool and think how to beat him bad at the same time.

You cant blame people for getting angry, it happens. After enough losses everyone gets angry, video game or not. Infact a lot of people use fighters as there outlet for anger....However, theres no excuse for someone actually saying or physically doing anything after a loss. When someone gets physical, or a little too verbal, that person NEEDS to cool down.

In some ways you are right, but I forgot to write this, as I was playing KoF after the CvS player had left, this guy{C} who was playing MVC2 with his girlfirend got challenged to the game by another guy{A}.That's fine, but this guy{A} let his other friend{B} play his game to beat that guy{C}, whose girlfriend was watching.
The guy{A} who challenged the guy{C} who was already on the game, couldn't beat him{C}, and I think that is why he let his friend beat him. And the friend{B} who beat the guy{C}, has the nerve to tell me, that he kicked his ass. The guy's girlfriend is looking at this guy{B} and me, with a stare that could kill someone. He began talking trash to me, about that guy{C} who lost.
The guy with the girlfriend, wouldn't leave after he had lost to the better guy{B}, who substituted for the guy{A} who paid for the game. The guy{C} got mad as hell, and his girlfriend had asked him{c} to just forget about it, and to leave for the day. I think he raised his voice at his girlfriend or something. At this point the Guy{C} lost over twelve dollars to this guy{B. The girlfriend was falling asleep or something, I felt so sorry for her, I was going to offer her a couple of my extra tokens to go Puzzle Bobble or something.

Sad isn't it, why does a guy have to get so mad for, I don't think frustration gives him the right to go and be upset with his girlfriend. he should've left the game, and forget about all the trash talking there were doing.
I trash talk too, but only with the people I've known at the arcade for a long time.Or I say something to shut some one up, who has talked trash to me first.

heh we all have had this, but I stand up for myself and usually end up cursing back at them and telling them its a game. I remember one time there was this one guy who wanted to fight me because I made a comeback in Kof 98.... he was kicking my ass and had 3 characters while I only had one, then I made a come back and beat his team, he was furious and wanted to fight me. I was like your only 5-8" or something like that, I finally had enough and decided to fight him and break his neck, and guess what he chickend out and left.... so my theroy is that all those talkers at arcades are all sissy's and just like to bother people who are better than them

One time I beat a player in SF2:Hyper Fighting. He was getting more and more pissed throughout the match, and when he lost, he SLAMMED the 2P button with his index finger. It reset the game! I've never seen that before.

I hope you got your money back. Riot.
Where I play, depending on who is working, they will not give refunds. Even if the game is not functioning properly. Too many people did all the glitches in various games, like SF2 guile's handcuff, and purposely not get out after they've made it to Bison, or the Third Strike Blackout, with Ken on Makoto. MvC2 I don't know anything about the game but all I know is that someone freezes the game, and always asked for six tokens back. Claiming that he was challenging a friend. In DR. Mario, one can freeze the game in two ways, one permanently and one temporarily. The game place got tired of handing out refunds I guess, cause it became obvious that some people were there to rip them off.

One time, I wanted to punch this guy at the arcades. We were playing KoF 2K, and my last character was Kim, and his was Lin. I was kicking his ass until he got on counter mode and he did the dwn B infinite, he took away all my life and I lost. He played some other people and re-edited his team each time. When it was my turn again, he purposedly picked Lin. And guess what happened? He did the infinite again. I wanted to punch that fag or something, but I kept it cool, and just walked away and went to play KoF 97. Beating the living thing out of my opponents in '97 helped me to relax.

P.S. What a bastard.

Some people are just bad losers. I beat a guy with Vega/Balrog and he was using Ryu.... in SF2 Turbo (Where Vega was very "Weak") He called me a cheat, and walked off swearing.... Had to laugh!

When I was 9 years old, I beat this 20 something year old who was one cocky sumbitch let me tell you.

That motherfucker came in strooooolling like he was the king of tides baby. He smirked at me and I whupped his backside all over the shiznet!

Sorry... I just been watching some Martin Lawrence flick...

But seriously, yeah, I taught that punk a lesson or two and he walked away stunned. Felt sweet. I bet inside he was furious. I hate those cocky "I'm all that" sumbitches.

I guess EGM said it best.... "In video games, there's no other loser then a sore loser."

Steve almost the same thing occurred with me when Tekken 3 just came out in the arcades. There was these 4 or 5 kids who thought this one kid was all that and when I beat him he got so pissed off he literally scared me away from the cabinet by swearing at me and making moves towards me. Alas I was only 11 then, not a big difference from now in age though anyways.

That Lin crap, I hate that too.

One guy did the same thing, and start talking shit. So what I did, was wait for my turn, and did the same, the first thing I said, was, YOU THINK THIS IS FUN? IF YOU THINK THIS IS FUN, I'LL KEEP DOING IT. IF NOT DON'T DO IT THEN.
I never saw the guy ever do that crap again. but he did move on to doing Joe striker rubbish, So once again I had to stop him from ripping off everybody. But this time, I used one hand to do it. The other hand was used to point out, how pointless and techniqueless he was, that anyone using one hand could do it.

I may be the only one, but 9 times outta 10 I'll destroy computer controlled opponants.

If someone can beat me, not that I'm the greatest but I have some mad fireball skills , then job well done! High Five! Let's go again.

I mean, god forbid you have a little bit of challenge.

And someone else tell me you don't look around the room while you're playing KoF thinking.... "who want's some?".

I guess I'll respond to this, I look around the room, to look for my rivals who play KoF. I don't hang out with many of them outside of the gameplace. Our group of players always taunt and tease each other, but only as a joke. When someone is leaving, we might joke around and say something like, whoa I beat you so bad, you are going back to china hey, or something. Or if I lose, I asay something like, I put so much shame on Japan's flag, that the red circle wanted to hide. Some lame stuff.

SHIN-HIDOSHI, I'm glad you showed that guy that his cheap techniques suck. What did the guy say after you did the same thing to
him? He probably started crying. He,He.

*Shrug* I'm not that old (22) so I'm not going to say "When I was growing up" but... When I was in my arcade hay day, everyone went to 'their' arcade, even if there were 3 in the Mall...didn't matter. And you played against the same people and I honestly enjoyed playing against good players and well...good players will beat you.

Hmmm... there are quite a number of reasons why people get mad when playing videogames. It doesn't matter whether you win or not but in most cases, even cool-headed folks can get really pissed if given a good reason. After all, for the ones who play to have fun losing or winning isn't what it's all about. If you won fair and square, then good. If you lost fair and square, fine... no harm done.

But there are times when there is such a thing as losing badly... for example, let me use KOF2K as an illustration. For some reason and for sheer fun, you just selected random characters and the ones you got were fighters whom you have absolutely no knowledge of using effectively. What you know are a few combo bits thrown here and there but wouldn't really be ones you'd exactly be capable of executing 100% all the time. Then a complete stranger challenges you and picks the cheesiest and most abusive characters to use against you. Since you're playing for fun, you decide not to edit your team and the slot gives you the exact same characters you got before. To make a long story short, you end up losing not because the guy was good but because the way he played against you was enough to take the fun out of playing (e.g., turtle all day, call abusive strikers, poke and throw, etc.).

Now don't think that you're a sore loser if you complain after losing. You'll know for yourself if you were beaten fairly or not.

Actually the guy left for home{foreign country} I think. I can't understand how people can see doing those kind of techniques every single time they play, fun.
I can't see how people having fun picking the exact same characters every sinlge time either. I mean one is playing to better his/her skills with a character, that is always fine. But when one peaks with a character, one should try to play other character's. If not, everything one does becomes at the minimum, somewhat predictable.
Too Bad, I won't be able to use the old cliche on him, " Cheaters never win", I paid a little boy to say that. The boy was so cute, doing the Dikembe finger taunt while saying it. So cute I bought him an ice cream.

I forgot to add in the future.
Damn I have got to come up with some stuff, when I beat people or lose to people. My brain must be rotting or something. Not enough Gingko Biloba.

Hey SHIN-HIDOSHI, I agree with you, it does get boring using the same old players. I ask my friends who challenge me at kof to pick the team they want to be beaten with, he,he. The bastards always try to pick a character who they think sucks. (i.e. Chizuru) But I still end up beating their asses anyway, he,he. They always get confused by Chizuru's teleporting moves and they lose their concentration. Also, Chizuru has a real damaging combo: C, fwd B, qcfx2 B, run up to opponent, C, run up to opponent, C, etc.

I think the two MOST sore loser-filled genre are FIGHTERS and SPORTS.

Have you ever seen someone got really mad during a game of Bomberman or Worms?

I haven't. Even the sore losers can have a good, non high blood pressure time with those two titles.
