So which system will perform better? The next-gen, poorly engineered 3D DVD system or the discontinued Sega powerhouse?

You would think that each version would maximize the available power of the console. Should we expect inferior graphics and superior gameplay on the DC?

The DC should be able to do a Arcade perfect port, seeing as its on the Naomi arcade hardware which is basically a DC.

Good point! But the question is, will this be like Tekken Tag where the PS2 version is better in every way than the arcade version? Are the DC ppl going to lose out?

Tekken Tag was never on the DC, so it can't really be better in everyway. Unless you're talking about DOA hardcore.

PS2 and 2D fighters... It can't even properly address shimmering and jaggyness, and I don't know how 4 mgs of vram can handle all those flashy effects and animation in CVS2.

But I'm a Sega purist, so please excuse my anti-PS ways.

Mark my words... the DC version will KILL the PS2 version! CvS2 is almost certainly developed on a Naomi board (can anyone confirm this?), which uses Dreamcast technology. There, as with CvS, the DC version will essentially BE the aracde game. The PS2 version will suffer becuase Sony had little or no interest in 2D... and the orignal PS was more than limited in 2D.

Tekken Tag was released on the DC? I thought Namco's only DC game was Soul Calibur... or maybe that is only in the US?

soul calibur has better graphics than tekken tag.i own tekkan tag on ps2.soul calibur has better character models than TTT and also more interesting backgrounds.as for CVS2,the dc version would be better.the dc handled MVC2 with ease so this game would not be a problem.

Dead or Alive 2: Limited edition (Jap DC) has much better graphics than PSX 2 anyway.... a fact that a lot of mags in England seem to be noticeing (Which is really strange) the only things that its lacking are the three extra tag battle stages.

I thot someone mentioned that TTT for PS2 is also known as Tekken JAG Tournament. I've some 3D games on PS2 and the animation is not as smooth but anyway tat's 3D, where 2D is concerned DC will definitely beat it hands down as it'll be arcade perfect port, the PS2 version most likely would be built from scratch so we can expect some cut frames here and there and mabbe it would turn out to be a special edition whereby u only need 4 buttons to play (due to the massive frame cuts) and all grooves can only walk cos the run option would be too fast for PS2 processor to handle...oops I guess I'm going overboard here. But really I have a low opinion of PS2 2D capabilities.

Anyway I'm willing to keep an open mind if CvsS2 translate well on the PS2 engine, it's would also be good for the 2D fighting game scene.

the board that runs plasma sword was system-11.seeing the huge muscling power of thedc, the game is just a straight port from an extremely outdated arcard hardware.

thee reason why ps2's 4 meg vram could handle CVS2's special effects is cuz' it has the best lightinf effect than any other consoles. it also could push 66 million polys/sec(for the 3d backdrops).the dc may not push as many polygons as ps2 but the game would be a perfect port on the dc.dc has the best 2d abilities.

I don't know about DC having the best 2D capabilites... in my opinion, the sprites in Vampire Hunter and especially Vampire Savior on the Saturn look significantly better than the sprites in CvS, SFA3, and either MvC game on the DC... How can this be?

What do the rest of you think?

GGX's sprite may be the best on the dc.saturn's 4 meg expansion cart enabled it to have good 2d graphics.still dc is much more better than the saturn would ever be.CVS1 is not very well done in terms of graphics even in the arcade,simply...the sprites are few.

As it stands (from the beta reports that I've read), it seems to operate the same way as MvC2 in the terms of graphics... 3D backgrounds and 2D fighters with a lot of them being graphical rips. Therefore, I don't see any problems with a perfect port onto the DC.

And being that it's 2D action on 3D backgrounds, the PS2 should be able to handle this with no problems as well. The only fear is that will they try to "enhance" the graphics and sounds on the PS2 version. That remains to be seen...

As the release date for CvS2 in the arcades get closer and closer, I can't help but get more excited. FINALLY... a Terry/Athena team against the world of Capcom. Shotokans, beware! <IMG SRC="smilies/glee.gif" border="0">

Why not sell your Neo Geo? There's not many games coming out for that! Just buy a PS2 now, instead.

See how stupid that is? Great games will always be great, so where's the joke? Keep the damn system unless you are too poor to keep it, of course. Keep in mind I still play SNES games all the time.

If you are selling a DC for a PS2, yes, I'm serious, I have little respect for that.

I already have PS2, and I want sell my dc but its nothing to do with blaiming dc and supporting PS2.

I like my dc but, everybody has different opinion and thought. If I find dc is just ok, while you find its really great, then its not my fault. I will sell any of my system at any time, if I don't feel like to keep it, and whether I sell those or not, its non of your business.

Don't just easily say anything because it come up from your mind.

And whether you've lost respect on me or whatever, I really don't care...there still is a lot of other people who has respect on me in this forum, and I'm fine with them.

That's what society wants you to think, but I've got other plans. I'm not going to stop from saying something that's on my mind to be nice. I'm sorry for coming off rude just now, but that's how I feel.

I just wanted to add that there are two arcade versions of tekken tag. One runs on the system 12 which is a ps1 with more ram etc and the other runs on the ps2 arcade hardware. (system 246).
Ok.

Capcom ZN-1 Harware runs

Star Gladiator aka Plasma Sword
SF EX PLUS
SF EX

Capcom ZN-2 Runs

Tech Romancer
Strider 2
Star Gladiator 2

After all this trouble I went through to help piece together this list and still nobody reads it. <IMG SRC="smilies/ohno.gif" border="0">
