Like most everyone I hope that CvS2 is released for the US DC. But there is a slight problem. As I understand it, CvS2 will have 6 buttons ala the SF games. Now this is a good thing - it shouldn't (emphasis on shouldn't) hurt the SNK guys and it would give the Capcom characters all their basic attacks back. Capcom did an okay job translating 6 buttons to 4 in the original but I'd rather not have to hit back/forward to pull off certain attacks (messes up certain combos).

Problem is the lack of decent 6 button controllers for the DC. With only the face buttons used the stock pad was 'okay' for CvS but there's no way that those triggers will be functional in a fast paced fighter like CvS2. I had this same problem trying to find a controller to play SF3:3S. The arcade stick is no longer in production,; the few sticks available are poor at best. For those of us (like me) who have gotten used to pads things look even worse. I have a Madcatz six button pad - it's D-pad is idiotically mounted on an angle thus ruining twitch reflexes while facing left. Plus it sticks when pushed in certain directions. I bought another brand's (forget the name) six-button pad - you couldn't map the trigger buttons on to the two extra face buttons . I ended up getting an ASCII import fighting pad - it works okay but the up left direction is very unresponsive. You see where I'm going with this....

Someone needs to release a decent fighting controller for the DC - and with it dying that seems unlikely. This may be a problem.

Search for "agetec dreamcast" on E-bay. There are always several arcade controllers up for sale and they work great with the Capcom fighters on the Dreamcast. I just got a second arcade controller about a month ago.

Price is generally in the $50-60 dollar range and, as always with E-bay, keep an eye out for pictures, condition, payment options, and the seller's rating and recent feedback.

Just for example, here is what is up for sale now: http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1240745243 http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1241369233 http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1241514269 http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1241746710 http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1241152332

I'm surprised that some of you use controllers. For me, the d-pad is too slow, the buttons are too small and the triggers are useless.

I bought an Agetec Stick when I bought my first DC fighter. And whether it's simply because I'm so used to it from playing MvC2 and CvS so much or not, it's become my favorite home stick. The buttons are perfectly sized and are concave up, the stick has just the right amount of looseness and clicks in the corners, and the entire unit is very durably constructed. The only (minor) complaint I have is that A and X are placed lower on the face than the other buttons.

I recommend it very highly.

I think the Dreamcast control pad SUCKS for fighting games. I do not mind using control pads for fighting games as I do for SNES and Playstation. But when I used the control pad of the Dreamcast to play SF 3 in 3 seconds I thought it was terrible. Right then and there I decided to buy a joystick for my Dreamcast

It's like this:

I started using control pads when Capcom released SF2 on the SNES. I still went to the arcade regularly in those days and preferred the stick controller to the pad (especially with having to use the shoulder buttons). As time wore on I bought more fighters for my home systems: SNES, PSX, DC. All the while the arcades in my area stopped getting in Capcom and SNK fighters (I believe the last ones were the original SF3 and KoF96). So I stopped going to the arcade, and stopped playing with a stick controller. So over the years I've grown quite accustomed to the control pad and my stick abilities have atrophied considerably. I have trouble doing double quarter circle supers and dragon punch motions now (forget about large scale combos) - it's actually kind of ironic since I learned those moves in the arcade.... So I'm stuck with a pad now.

I heard about the Saturn adapter and looked into it when I bought the ASCII import. Unforunately they were out of either the adapter or the controllers (maybe both) so no go . I hear the Saturn controller is the god of six button control pads though. Lemme know how it works out. If it's good let me know where you got it from; might haveta look into that again .

I found a few people auctioning new units on eBay last year. I think I paid $20 for mine.
They aren't bad, but I think the stick is a little stiff, and the buttons are concave down.
