Well, thanks to Rain's MvC1/MvC2 topic... I've renewed my intrest in Marvel vs games. Who agrees with me on MSH vs SF being the Pinnacle (the best) of the Marvel Vs series? Since it's got the most balanced striker system in the Vs Series and there aren't many of these cheap infinites as in MvC2

I'd agree. The character selection was pretty good other than Shuma-Gorath and Blackheart(why these guys ever make it into a Marvel Super Heroes i'll never know). I'm not sure what capcom were thinking when including Norimaro either. Compared to Marvel vs Capcom this game is far more balanced. As you have said the striker system is perfected here, things got over the top with MVC2, to many cheap attacks were achieved with strikers.

I agree. Instead of BlackHeart and Shuma, they should have put Dr.Doom and Psylocke.... I mean, they are better fighters than these two freaks. As for Nori, he stays, 'cuz he's funny

Shuma and Blackheart rock! Blackheart can easily beat cheapass Wolverine players with his kickass projectiles, and hitting range. Shuma is just plain interesting with his cool Arial Rave finishing grabs, and Chaos Dimension.... But, then again I was always a big Dan fan..... I think that MSH Vs SF was the best Vs game overall though, I remember getting so addicted to it... Anyone see that really strong Dan corner Combo? Sweet. Glad I renewed your interest Batsu_Power

Well, IMO, MSHvSF was the most fun out of any of the vs games, but the balance wasn't exactly the greatest. A well played spiderman/wolverine was unstopable. I agree that the striker system in this game was the probably the best in any of the vs games as it wasn't 100% useless, but it wasn't overpowering. But the main reason why I liked it most was the cast of characters. All, including norimaru, were exteremly fun to use and I spent a ton of time playing with each of them. Other reasons why I liked it were the announced super move finshers, and Mech Gouki. He was just a cool boss

One thing I forgot to mention (that you so helpfully reminded me of Force ) was how strong Wolverine was in that game! Thats why I recommend using BlackHeart against him. Blackheart has an awesome keep away game that Wolverine has problems with....... Wolverine has such an easy infinite in that game too:
Go into Speed up mode (QCB + 2P) and just hold down and tap Fierce Punch.... simply shocking how that was left in. Spidey had one too:
Launch with standing Strong, then Jab Spider sting, Strong, Jab Spider Sting, ...... Etc.... Most people know about these infinites, But I thought I would remind everyone....... And the announced Supers Ruled!

Yup... That announcer was the most craziest announcer in the VS series!! He's leagues better than that cheapo announcer in SFA3. And I loved it when he said Ryu's Hurricane Kick super:

'SHINKUTATSUMAKISEMPUKYAKU-KYAKU-KYAKU-KYAKU!'

That was So funny

MSHvSF is a very good game. I like how everytime you switch off, the music changes. I have this rare game on the Saturn and it's pretty damn close to the arcade!

I think marvel vs streetfighter is a great game, its not as good as streetfighter alpha 3 but I like marvel games as in some stages the backgrounds changed such as if the road collapses and you drop onto a boat underneatrh[xmen children of the atom]and in marvel super heroes where on the waterfall stage the bridge collapses,I wish that would have happened in the streetfighter games as there backgrounds just stayed the same,i mean the animation is superb but every now and then it would have been cool to see the stage turn to night time

Yeah he was cool, and a great mod for this forum. Apparently he went back to Orochinagi after it was "revived".

The best VS. game IMO is X-Men vs. SF.

MSH vs. SF is cool, but it got kind of cheesy and crazy, I thought Mech Gouki was really lame, and they over did the whole fireball thing in that one.

Sakuras fireballs were WAY to big and crazy. Norimaro is funny tho in the import saturn version.

i undersatnd that in the ps version of MSH vs SF,beating cyber akuma is very hard cos there is no tag-teaming on the psx version due to the limited RAM and crappy 2d capability of that console.in the saturn version, defeating him is a breeze IMO.by the way the saturn version is far superor than the hacked psx version.

Agree. MSH vs SF is the best.

Norimaro takes the cake.

Who is in his position in the arcade?

when it comes to playing by urself msh vs sf is the best of the vs series(only vs game with a boss that aint a toatall pussy) and i prefer it over mvc2 due to the style of play ( im sooo sick of traps and keep away now) but the vs competition in arcades for mvc2 is hard to beat..its all ppl play!

personally id much rather play cvs2 or one of the last 3 kof tittles

I would agree that MSH vs SF probably is the best game in the VS. series, but there are some aspects of it I didn't like.

First off, it was the only game in the series that didn't feature any new characters (Norimaro aside; he wasn't even in the US version). Capcom just rehashed fighters from the Zero series and X-men/MSH. As such, MSH vs. SF has the worst line-up of characters of any of the VS. games. The main Marvel characters were fine (Spiderman, Capt. America, Hulk, Wolverine) but the supporting cast they chose were throw-offs from the earlier games. Characters like Shuma Gorath, Blackheart, Cyclops, and Omega Red shouldn't have been in the game - they're not really representative of the main Marvel universe (Cyclops and Omega are pure X-men characters, Blackheart and Shuma Gorath are obscure characters from lesser known series). Capcom should have included more respectable Marvel characters like Dr. Doom, Thor, Punisher, or Dr. Octopus. And adding Dan and Sakura to a SF list already consisting of Ryu, Ken, and Gouki makes for too many shotos on the SF side.

I would have liked original backgrounds as well. Again, this is the only game in the series that reused backgrounds. It makes it seem less like a true sequel and more like an update.

I sort of missed the X vs. SF end battle where you went against your partner too. It was kind of interesting to fight one on one after you spent so much time depending on tagging your teammate. Plus sometimes you could get burned for choosing a strong partner to compensate for that weaker character whose ending you wanted to see.

But all and all the good outways the bad. MSH vs. SF is the only game whose striker system I liked. Plus it was the first game in the series where Capcom started to alter it's characters significantly (ie. changing Ken's fireball and hurricane kick, changes to Sakura). The hidden characters were pretty cool as well, particularly Mega-Zangief. Fighting Mech Gouki was much better than going against Apocalypse, Onslaught, or Abyss. And I liked the endings for MSH vs. SF; particularly Dan's and Gouki's.

So while there were some disappointing aspects of MSH vs. SF that could have readily been avoided, all and all it probably is the pinacle of the VS series.

MvC2 is the pinnacle of the series easily.
Sure the game it's share of dumb shit, but compared to the rest of the verses games it's Shakespeare.

People bitch about the assist system in MvC2 but they realize it saves the game more than it breaks it. If the game didn't have assists Magneto would run wild worse than Wolvie does on MvSF. It gives game more possibilities than rush, rush, rush. It also promotes true team play which you need to play this game well.

Once you take all the elements MvC2 has to offer and try to incorporate them into a good gameplan you'll understand how deep the game is. To play MvC2 well is to understand a lot of shit (way more than you had to understand playing MvSF of any other vs game). Some people would argue that MvC2 is the deepest fightest game of all time and they have a good case.

Yeah the final battle was tight i'll prove if your really a hardcore player who can go it alone or someone who resorts to using your Team members and lose'.
