...for data caching according to Madman's Cafe. Given what I know about PS2 speed/load times especially for a 2D fighter, it sounds like having the hard drive is the way to go.

When is the US release for the PS2 hard drive package though? Will it even be out before CVS2?

The PSX 2 needs a hard drive to play a 2D fighter!??! WTF!!! Think i'll stick with Dreamcast thank you very much..... don't fancy installing all of my 2D fighters <IMG SRC="smilies/wink.gif" border="0">

ps2's lack of vram is an issue for 2d games.the HD is a way to equalise things with the arcade and the dc version.it may be even better than the dc version since the HD has 40Gb of space! any way,the dc is a way to go.it does not cheat(use HD).dc has natural 2d power!!and a little bit of 3d combined for good measure.

This just in: PSX 2 to get version of Genesis 2D blaster "Gunstar Heroes!" However it requires purchase of HD (£150) and installation before it will even run.....
