Extras in CvS2

Capcom's finest arcade-to-home translation was SFZ3. While it was an excellent representation of the arcade game, it was the added features that made the translation great. I'm sure I'm dreaming here but I'd love to see CvS2 feature some extra modes ala SFZ3.

The World Tour for Z3 would be a great way to unlock hidden characters and features in CvS2. Instead of methodically playing through the arcade mode to earn points for purchases you could earn secrets by advancing in the WT mode. WT's challenges offer variety and give the game additional replay value. And with CvS2's 6 grooves, they could implement a ton of different challenges (ie. opponents that can only be damaged only parried/just defended attacks, defeat a number of opponents when your health is flashing red etc.).

I'd also like to see a return of the Dramatic Battle. Make it so you can play cooperatively or competitively. In competitive mode, players could compete to see who KO's the most opponents, deals the most damage, lands the biggest combo etc. If the PSX can pull off dramatic mode then the DC and PS2 should have no trouble.

I also want to see additional character selection options. Things like random and the KOF roulette system. Someone in another thread mentioned Marionette from Vampire Savior. Bring her and Shadow back! Their not actual characters but being able to play as your opponent or the character you just defeated was fun. It shouldn't be that hard to set up.

So what I'm saying here is that while I'm all for additional moves, new characters, and fancy backgrounds I don't want to see the actual gameplay options limited. Between SNK's games and their own, Capcom has a wealth of great modes they could choose from - I just hope they don't forgot.

As long as there's no more of that EX character crap, I'm all for any (Well, almost any) extras. Somehow, I have this feeling that Shadow and Marionette would be the only Vampire characters Capcom puts in the game; even if they're not real characters; not that I'd complain. They were more fun than Shin Akuma and all the other lame incarnations of Gouki.

A storyline with endings would be nice, but as far as extras go, perhaps a single 1 on 1 and VS mode (Marvel Vs style) like the ones from the Neo Geo Pocket SNK vs Capcom:MOTM would be good.

As for World Tour and dramatic battle. those would be nice, but not necessary. I somehow wanna see a dramatic mode like the one in SFA3 and SOul Calibur.

I would like to see more of like SNK ch. than I would like to see of Capcom why??

I think they are too cool to be left out of a game like this ...like from SNK games ch. from 2k king of fighter ,and one of the extra things are the striker system that would be interesting to see....

and from capcom I would like to see ch. I don't think if you guys would like her (redhood) from darks. and the sf ex. system where you can cancel the supre that would be awesome don't you think guys..

i still think Zero 3's World Tour Mode is the great_est add on to a fighting game

(tobal's maze doesnt count)

and i would love to see it in CvSNK 2
but odds are it wont happen...

plus a better Color Edit would be nice...sorta like the ones in the psx wwf&ecw games

None of the game extras are really necessary, as long as the gameplay is good. But having them there makes the game more fun. One of my chief complaints about CvS was that in order to earn enough points to buy anything you had to play through the game again and again and again and again. By the time I finally bought everything I was so tired of the game I didn't even want to play it anymore. Games should be fun not work. If Capcom revamps the purchase system then it won't be a problem in CvS2. If they don't - then WT, Dramatic, etc. would help to keep the whole thing fresh (providing you earn points).

Endings are a definite extra that should be included. An attempt at a story would be much appreciated too. When you say a Marvel style VS. do you mean where you fight characters from the opposing universe (that was in the PSX MvC I think...)?

Are you talking about the DC, PSX, or DC SFZ3 translation? I have the DC but haven't played the others.

Dramatic battle was awesome. The best part of the 1P SFZ3 arcade mode is the match where you fight Juli and Juni at the same time. If the Naomi and Dreamcast can pull of everything that is done in MvC2, it could certainly pull off dramatic battle! (Not sure about PS2 though... HA!) Maybe even 2-on-2 dramatic battle!

I had an idea related to this for the final match of CvS2... in the final match, you would fight Juli & Juni or Vice & Mature at the same time (each character at ratio 1) before you fight the final ratio 4 Shin M.Bison or Omega Rugal. That would be great!

I am referring to simple Tag-Team from the Marvel Vs series (2 on 2 matches with the ability to "tag" out with your partner). Like in the NGPC SNK vs Capcom.

Riot - Specifically, I'm referring to the PSX version (couldn't wait for the DC version to come out). I've heard the DC is a better translation but since I've never played it I can't be sure. What I meant was that SFZ3 had all those extra play modes on top of a solid translation.

Burning - Ahh.. That makes alot more sense (the opposite universe mode in MvC was kinda pointless IMO). Tag matches would be a good addition; Capcom's never tried a serious fighter with tag action. Didn't the NGPC version let teams of two (tag) go against teams of three (consecutively, ala KoF)? They should use that too - might be interesting with the ratio system.

Hey, if you guys wanna play the best version of SFZ3, you should check out the Saturn version. Sweet! Dramatic Battle mode against everyone? Not just 6 characters? And how about REVERSE Dramatic Battles? Well worth hunting down, trust me. Oh, and I started the whole Marionette appearing in CVS2 thing.... And as Apathy_Wind said, bring Shadow back too! Hell, he was in Cardfighters Clash <IMG SRC="smilies/wink.gif" border="0">
