Where I grew up at it was a sin to throw in fighting games. In fact if you accidentally threw someone you would let them throw you back. This has caused me a huge disadvantage when I left home and in CVS2 on X-box live. I am not use to people throwing so damn frequently. I can’t stand people who roll then throw, roll then throw, and then throw again. I am not adjusted to it so I tend to block and then am met with a throw.

I played someone today I know I can beat but they threw rolled and threw like 5 times per character. If he had not thrown in such a manner I would have beat him in all our matches instead of 2 out out of 7. Help me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How can I defeat these damn throwers?

If there is one thing I hate, Its "Roll-Throwers."
My little brother has master this and uses it against me every time I play. The only tip I can give you is: Expect them to do it.
If you notice someone playing this strategy, wait for them to roll and then try to throw them. 7 out of 10 times, it will either break the throw or you will win the throw. Also, moving around a lot or quickly moving back can mess up their timing, allowing you a free hit, sometimes.

Hang in there, bud. You're not the only one.

I would do the roll throw thing but I have much to honor and consider it cheap. Anyone else have some other advise?

Thanks greyimp for the advise.

That was me you played, and I did a lot more than just sit there and roll throw (and you know it). I predicted a lot of the stuff you were gonna do, such as jump kicking and meeting you in the air. First thing you gotta learn is throwing is NOT cheap, and an awesome tactic to master, just don't overdo it (and I didn't).

Any time you want to meet up again and play, I'm for it (it can help both of us). However, don't get on a message board and call me cheap and boast yourself as knowing you can beat me and you have all this "honor".

You ARE the person I played, we played SEVEN matches and you won only TWO. I'm not getting upset, but don't try and shit over my tactics. If you let yourself be thrown, you let yourself be thrown. There is stuff around it.

Now we both can talk and critique each other's game play, and it could help us both out, but something I hate is when people cry when they lose because the think what their opponent pulled was "cheap", regardless of mentioning names or not.

I can't get on for another hour cause I'm downloading something, but you ARE a person I want to play again. Very good player, and I hope we both can get better, but nothing in the game is cheap.. we arent playing SF2 anymore :D

Sorry if I'm coming across like I'm pissed, but I'm not. If you want advice, good, let's talk some advice, but let's not make excuses for ourselves.

#1 - You can always.. I repeat.. ALWAYS throw somebody out of a roll. There is also slight vunerability where you can be hit/combo'd in the roll.

#2 - Don't fold when you get under pressure. I noticed when I was putting pressure on you, you kinda sat in the corner and waited for me to do something so you could counter it, IE: shoryuken, and that stuff is easily baitable, so they can counter you.

#3 - Don't blindly throw fireballs with no followup objective. It's easy to roll through them and follow up with combos or even.. throws! wink Just watch and see how your opponent plays, and know what to do when you get in certain situations.

I'm all for hearing how you could critique my game play, but let's keep "cheap" and "throwing" out of it, ne?

Nice fights Gohan. Two of them had me crapping in my pants because we both had no life and who ever had the last hit wins :D .

I know! You've started catching on and was kicking my ass through some of my tactics. The Balrog/Akuma fight had me shaking with the controller in my hand! :D We should do randoms more often :)

One of my friend does alot of throws. He also does tons of super moves. For some reason I don't use super move all that much. I find it like how you find throw kind of cheap, it's the same way with me too. I do a lot of those roll throw though, I can't help it it's like program into my head, like I have to do it every fricken time.

That was the same mentality where I grew up too. Throwing was cheap, you just didn't do it. And if you did you pretended it was an accident (even if it wasn't) and if you were nice you would let them have a free throw.

I wonder how these rules came about and only in certain areas too. I've seen people play and throw like crazy and not seem to care one bit. But growing up if you threw someone you would always get a laugh from the other guy and his buddy watching would call you a cheap ass.

Now I just don't give a fuck. I'll throw your ass repeatedly until you learn better. :D
