is it me, or is Ryo a weird fighter in CvS2. he seems really defensive and weird. i mean, he is ok, but if they made him like a KOF '98 ryo, i think it would be wayyyy better. i dun know, thats just me.

He should of kept his tiger stance from the kof series. But instead capcom decided to make him look old and give him his ols stance which i dont like.

His tiger stance blows, IMHO. I've always hated it, and am glad it's like his AOF stance.

Agreed, Spike.

His stance in CvS2 is way better than those found in newer KoFs.

I think Ryo's '95 sprite was the best in KOF, same for Terry.

not only his stance, but his moves. i hate his d,df,b kick move. in CvS2, u have to charge it. its like a ryo from AOF. its not that bad, but in my opinion, i like the KOF ryo wayyy better.

I agree with Spike, I've always liked Ryo's original stance in Art of Fighting as opposed to the KOF one.

Let's not kid ourselves, however. I think the reason he went to the new stance was to try and pull him away from being what he sort of is... a shoto clone. I know he's not, all die hards and good players know he's not, but to the public, that's what he is still with the old stance. That's the feeling I get from people online, at least.

Sure the KOF98 is better and 95 is cool the problem is capcom made him look like he's on crack he dont bounce like kof95 ryo which is sweet. his move and specials look like sh*t.

Capcom does the stupidest things sometimes.
Like why the fuck would they want to add joe before
they would add Andy? And Have Raiden instead of Big Bear?

andy can almost be just another chacter, but joe is a thai kick boxer, and hes a semi joke character (in terms of the way he acts, not that hes a shit character at all.) to go against dan and sagat. plus andy doesnt really have a capcom parallel.

Ryo is just drawn really, REALLY bad in CVS2. I think he is the worst drawn out of the whole SNK crew. His gameplay leaves a lot to be desired also... Ryo and Kyo are really horrible shadows of their former selves in this game...Luckily, it seems like Capcom likes Terry, he is a nasty fighter in this game.

Um, I think Andy DOES have a CAPCOM parrallel fighter, and I think it could be Guy, from SFA3...I mean, both are quasi-Ninjas, train all day and night, ...Or it could be Fei Long...a fighter thatis second best like these two...but My money is on Guy

I think they put him in a normal stance so everyone could see what a Ryu ripoff he was. I like the tiger stance better though.

Yeah, they wanted to make him look like an idiot and play like and idiot (which he does). Check his Shinkiro win portrait.

The tiger stance was about 1000 better than any other way Ryo has looked, and he was a badass in '97, but trust Capcom to screw him up. He's terrible in CVS.

Ugh, the Shinkiro portrait looked like ass! Capcom seriously has some inferiority complex or something. SNK does justice to both sides with MOTM and Capcom...well, they "toned down" some of the SNK characters for "balance."

He is much more like he was in AoF, which I find disappointing. My guess is they were trying to balance the game.

I was really happy in the KoF ('96, I believe) series when they changed the movment required for his Lightning Legs Knockout Kick.

They at least gave him a lot more of his moves in 2. As for balance....my biggest gripe is STILL this....it's stupid that characters like Blanka, Honda, and Bison can fly over almost all of the snk casts fireballs easily for an easy hit. Ryo doesnt have that problem...but he is slow as molasses with everything, and has a crappy sprite.

Bah, ryo is Wild Ambition is way better that their stupid KOF appareace and CvS together because looks similar to a master of Kyokugen not a funky subnormal idiot with not r4espect their karate-gi.

Well, it's either that or you'd be complaining that they changed their fireballs. Take your pick. I think a much more legitimate gripe is about that roll canceling bullshit.

Who said they had to change their fireballs...it would be a lot easier to tune the hit detection to get hit by them.

I couldn't have said it better myself. Another way to make SNK look inferior.

And I am also a fan of the tiger stance. Ryo in 2k2 when selected with D looks absolutely "BADASS". wink :D

To me, Ryo is (or was at least) a mere Ryu clone. Then, SNK tried to make him more different, give him a personality etc...
But let's face it, at first he was an orange Ryu with blonde hair.
Oh, and Robert. Take off your wig, I know you're Ken Masters in disguise !!
Haha... Joking...
Both Ryo and Robert have considerably evolved, compared to how they were at first... Like most characters actually...

Ryo's Tiger stance looks awsome plus it seperates him from being a Ryu clone. It adds to his style and I don't like the way he controls in capcom vs. snk 1&2. His control just seems stiff and I don't like his changed uppercut, fire ball and his kick special move should've been QCB + K, it makes it more usefull than having to charge it. If only they left him as he was in KOF '96 +.
