I had the fortunate (or should I say unfortunate) privilege to play KOF 2000 against human opponents over the weekend in Boston. It wasn't a good showing for me by any means... all I had to do was stop playing the game for a month, and I would become the victim of someone's questionable gameplay.

From annoying tactics with K', Iori, Seth Strikers, Hinako and Lin, these opponents seemed to have done it all. It's unfortunate that I wasn't in tune with the game like I was just a few months ago... I would have been able to get around all of this. But seeing myself lose to these annoying "sure-fire" tactics just got to me a little bit.

I guess it was "that" important for them to win and show their "superioirty"... Ho-Hum... one day, I'll find people that can do things in the game that aren't so typical and predictable.

The only good session of KOF I wound up having was when I used Team China against someone's Team fatal Fury... one of the better fights I had in a long time, despite the fact that I lost by running out of time.

Got a good win streak in CvS, though...

Maybe because I:

1. Purposely don't use characters that ensure easy victories... would you use Chin Gentsai against Iori? I would...

2. Actually try to do other things than the obvious tactics that will help my chances to win... Sure, I could take K' and play a keep away game with lots of dashes, teleports and flames, or continually do the hyper jumping Iori cross-ups that have worked for the last 3 years, but I'd rather try to defeat this a different way that isn't so obvious.

Jeez... is it so wrong to want to be different? So what... I vented a little. I don't mind the loss... as you can see, I blatantly place myself at a disadvantage since I don't use "easy" characters. And I wouldn't expect my opponent to do so, for he is his own self and can do whatever he wants. But you can understand the frustration when after coming back to playing KOF 2000 in an arcade after many months, and you still see people doing the SAME OLD THINGS?

And you wonder why Street Fighter bores a lot of people out here...
