KoF '99 USA PSX Prices

I've read around the boards that KoF '99 USA for the Playstation ranged anywhere between $9.99 to around $15.

Question is, why is this game dirt cheap? I know that the age of the game has something to do with it but it's only at the most 2 years old (and the USA PSX release was fairly recent). Some games that are of worse quality than '99 I've known of take like 3 or 4 years to even reach close to the selling price of this game.

Its cheap because its a 2d game. Unfortunatly most PSX owners view 2d as old fashioned and dated, so they useally sell for less than a 3d game of about the same time period....

id say its cheaper because of the title itself, kof isnt street fighter, as in popularity anyway, its 2d, and not so much for eye candy like capcoms vs's series or some 3d game, so most sony people arent interested in it...

i have a dreamcast, so i bought evolution for $23 (i traded my DM 98, MvC1, and R2R). i heard that its worth the $5 cuz PSX 99 is barely playable due to the long loading time.

koolking tolerates it but I guess I play in the arcade enough to notice the gameplay difference (noticeably the loading times which causes the game to take about 5 minutes more to beat).

I still don't understand why the game's *ridiculously* cheap new. $14.99 for a *newly* released game just doesn't make sense. There's unpopular 2D non-fighting games out there and those things sell for at least $20...

I remember a friend of mine (I call'em the Hawaii's BS Expert) bought the Japanese import retail version a year ago for a whopping $70.

Even Software Etc. (well known for its ridiculous rip-off prices) sells it for $15! Amazing...
